Is there not something a bit smelly about the way Keane talks about Celtic, a bit cynical in trying to tie it all into sales of his book? Would he not be a disaster as manager? If Deila doesn't ultimately work out, David Moyes might be a good replacement. Keane would split the support even more than Deila does. HH :shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

Keane will never get a manager's job again now I think he's got his role as an assistant for the rest of his career

He isn't even good enough to be an Assistant, in fact he's probably worse in that role which is supposedly the buffer between player and Manager. He has zero ability to converse normally with ordinary humans because of his plastic hard man facade which is nothing more than an act.

To be fair, Villa's being doing all right with him as assistant this season.

I'd tuck my balls in between my legs and do a somersault into the Clyde if Lambert became our manager.

That's like saying Real Madrid did alright last season because of Paul Clement. Which is slightly stretching the truth.

I'm sure Paul Clement played his part.

Coaching staff do bring something to the club.

Is the training hard to get to that level?

Played his part, yes. Would it have been a different outcome without him, no.

Villa are doing well, the Manager who has a track record of being good at management is the one who takes the credit. Not his over-aggressive plastic hard man sidekick.

Keane has publicly stated that he was only getting 15 + bonus's at celtic. He also said yesterday that he knew that he was only 10th choice for managers job as he heard that a few people had already turned it down before he got asked.

He's probably best suited to being an assistant.. His inter-personal skills are a joke..

He deserves respect for what he has achieved in the game, and I enjoy his aggressive nature but would never want him as out manager..

The SPL and our limited impact in Europe would be too much for him and he would eventually vent his frustration at everyone then he would throw in the towel and walk away..

Possibly, I can see how that could happen.

That aside, what could he have brought to us, any positives?

Well, the players would probably respect him initially for what he has achieved in the game and he certainly has experience..

He has worked under some great managers so some of that must have rubbed off.. Including a big ego, not nesccesarily a good thing but in fairness a lot of successful managers posses..

He thrives in confrontation again some would say is a good thing..but for me he lacks the man-management skills to be a success as a manager.. And probably feels too important to manage week in week out in the SPL..

More chance of someone like Deila providing long term stability to club.. If he can start getting the short term results needed/expected..:shamrock:

That brings up a good question.

What about comparing the intimidating, fiery but respected personalities of Keane, Lennon, Strachan and O'Neill VS Deila?

I get the vibe he's confident and no doubt strong but would you take him serious if he got serious?

Certainly Keane, O'Neill & Strachan command huge respect in that sense.

    On a side note-

You would think one of the board would have recognised something was awry in their approach after 9 rejections...

    Indubitably.

Though, we have no idea what they are trying to sell and how they are going about it.

I have a feeling the board wouldn't approach Deila in the same manner you'd approach someone prestigious.

Would it be fair to say there would be adjustments in approach and what the board are offering to entice the candidates?

Hard to know if he has vented any fury or what his team talks are like..

Making the dressing room his own takes time.. and that needs to be considered..Lennon had the advantage of playing and being on the coaching staff before taking over.. Mon was given millions and had Henrik..even an experienced manager in Strachan struggled at the start..

No point screaming at the dressing room if you don't think it will do any good..
