Roy Keane loves to be on the opposite side of an argument. He thrives off of it for some reason hence the fact he * a lot of people off on a regular basis.

It is unfair to keep mentioning the fact he walked out on Ireland. He was willing to stay despite the terrible preparations until McCarthy held a team meeting - regarding the article that went out with Keane's interview in it - and accused him of faking injury to get out of a previous international.

Imagine being a footballer and being accused of faking injury in front of all your team mates. I don't blame him for walking out one bit.

Exactly, the bloke is the ultimate professional and expects everyone to be the same, United legend who fulfilled his boyhood dream of playing for Celtic, top guy who calls everthing as he sees it

So you agree with him that Forster should apparently have one better with the saves, and that Samaras is just as bad as Neymar with diving?

Forster was heroic in goals, as we well know, however Roy is judging him compared to the best. Playing with the likes of Schemiechel and Given behind him, Peruzzi and Seaman in front of him. It's harsh, but that is where he is coming from.

Samaras' diving may not be as bad, but he does go to the ground easily at times. I can see what he saying there, as well, even if I don't agree with it.

7 EPL titles, 4 FA cups, a Champions League, an SPL title & league cup with us, 2 player of the year awards, Promotion to the EPL with Sunderland as manager along with a Championship manager of the year award along with 67 caps for his country.

What exactly does he have to be bitter about?

Sometimes you need to see beyond what someone is saying to get an understanding of what is intended. He is saying that we have to do better thats all and i reckon the celtic players know this.

    No he doesnt hate us.

He's just a very critical man and he always seems to be over critical to the two clubs close to his heart, that being Celtic and Manchester United. He rarely has a nice thing to say about the Irish national side either surprise surprise.

    * him, all he does is have digs at us & United. Arrogant * even said the best manager he ever played under was Clough, which is hard to believe.

He's simply calling a spade a spade, dont see anything wrong with his comments

Certainly nothing to back up the ludicrous assertion that he hates Celtic

Roy Keane does not hate Celtic. He just has a very direct, no nonsense style of talking. He was no nonsense as a footballer and he's the same as a pundit. He won't dress his comments up and will call it exactly how he sees it. If people don't like it or disagree with him he doesn't give a *.

Personally I prefer that approach to the sycophantic ramblings we see from most pundits who are too afraid to upset their buddies still within the game.

    I think he's a great pundit, but still a bit of a *.

He was spot on with most of his criticisms (minus the Forster one, but you can see his point..... sort of)

    He's a despicable * tbh :smiley-laughing002:

For a man in such a privileged position he's totally * miserable. His personality reminds me on Mark Lawrenson but with a bigger ego.

I think he's very critical of every club he's asked to comment on.

Put simply, he's a real perfectionist and possesses an unreal competitive drive that 99% of those actively in the game simply cannot match.

I'll always remember when the Ireland side at the 1994 world cup got knocked out in the 2nd round against Holland, but performed very well according to most people.

Well, Keane wasn't most people. According to him the World Cup was a disappointment, and he claimed "There was nothing to celebrate. We achieved little."

This was his attitude in 1994, at the age of 23!

Saying that, he wouldn't have achieved everything he did in the game without that attitude.

Spot on. Anyone who's read his autobiography will know this to be true.

One of the sad things about reading that book was that I realised Roy Keane had a football career that was littered with success after success and he barely enjoyed any of it. Every time he won something, within minutes of the final whistle blowing, he was already looking ahead to the next challenge. He hardly ever allowed himself to live in the moment and enjoy the success at hand.

His drive and ambition got him to the top but I can't help thinking he is so driven that he missed out on a lot of good times along the way.

I think as far a his drive, determination and single minded-ness goes, he's almost become a caricature of himself. Even as a manager he still played up to the hard-man façade. In fact combined with an ego bigger than nay player he was managing, it contributed to a rather feeble attempt at managemnt.
