No Ill think you will find he turned his back on his country during a tournament and personally abused the manager in a vile abusive rant. I think you will also find every other player on the Irish team were in the same conditions.

Id also like too point out that football in Ireland is our third sport and when I was in school we weren't even allowed play it, we also dont have a professional league and dont even come close too the money Man united can spend on facility's etc.... Keane used this an excuse because he didnt like McCarthy and you lot are fooling yourselves if you think it was down too anything else.

And as for Haaland, it was one of the most cowardly despicable tackles I have ever seen on a football pitch.

I think that he has a point. Ireland have been absolutely rotten and that ought to be the focus. Ireland got a tough as * group, no doubt, but so did Denmark and they're going into the last round with a real chance of making it into the quarter finals. Ireland just haven't looked like putting up the slightest bit of fight.

I wouldn't say Ireland will never be in contention for winning one. Look at Greece when everyone had written them off.

Again in terms of football infrastructure Greece are miles and miles better off than Ireland. For a start they have a far bigger population, they have a professional league, they have two massive clubs in Pana and Olympiakos not too mention some half decent smaller clubs in AEK Athens and PAOK. Any half decent young players in Ireland has too move at a very young age too England or indeed Scotland. Like it or not Ireland have been punching above our weight for years.

He's completely right on that case, in particular. I can't think of an Irish player that has really shined for many a year.

McClean, at least, had a good half campaign.

And the fact that soccer is only the third most played sport in Ireland makes it even more of an achievement to qualify.

exactly mate, And if you look at the crowds Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connacht get in the rugby nowadays it well be 4th soon. Irish football is not even that well supported in Ireland, English football is well supported in Ireland and when I say well supported I mean people sitting in the boozer with their Man U tops on. And again most people who support the Rep of Ireland are glory hunters also. I remember years ago going ta Ireland games before the sky era kicked in and you could pick any seat you wanted in Lansdowne.

    Does Roy Keane hate us?

I'm seriously wondering after just seeing his comments he made on Tuesday night. Fair enough I think he was right about the red, but the rest was unbelievable.

    1) Forster apparently should have done better with the first save of his amazing double save.
    2) Neymar's play acting was supposedly no worse than Samaras'.
    3) Strachan was trying to say we still had a chance of getting 9 points and all the other pundits were saying we played well in our first two games even though we didn't have a point yet when he chipped in saying that that was all very well but that we hadn't scored a single goal. There's some element of truth in that (though WGS answered it brilliantly) but the way he said it was so negative and with such venom. Burley's an idiot but Keane is clearly a very intelligent man. Burley's possibly a Rangers man and Keane definitely isn't. This leaves me with only one explanation:

    He hates us, doesn't he?

    Why?

I've seen him get ripped into Man U a right good few times and lets not forget about his reaction towards the Irish FA for asking for a replay against France.

Think he might just be angry at the world tbh

Hope his next * is a hedgehog!

He is a prize * anyway and Id like to see Celtic distance itself from him.

I hope he is NEVER the manager here.. I will call for him to be sacked every day.

HE is a disgrace of an Irishman

He's just a bitter * trying to be relevant, by being controversial, after bombing as a manager.
I've also heard him getting ripped into his supposedly beloved Manchester Utd and ROI so * knows what his problem is.

I liked Roy Keane as a player because he was Irish, a winner, and a world class player in his position. That said, he isn't a pundit or good at tv.

This is due to his personality or lack of one.

When he first started, I appreciated the fact that he held Adrian Chiles in as much contempt as I did.

A pundit needs to be insightful and engaging and fun to tune in to watch, with a good turn of phrase.

I hate to admit this because he's a total gooner, but the best pundit on the tv at the moment is Martin Keown.
