I just think he misses Martin O'Neill to get the best out of him.

Didnt like the way he said Chris Sutton left. He is a legend!

I think everyone agrees he's right to sit there and take the money. I mean would you take £25,000 a week for training with the reserve team 5 days a week? Dam right!!

i've constantly stuck up for thommo on here, and i'll still do it.

made me feel really annoyed reading about big chris, the guy was a legend, deserved more.

tommo was a great player for us and would do a good job for another team but hes at the end of his career and he has every right to sit on his big wage as there isn't goona be another big contract out there for him now

i think it all boils down to the fact the older players have MON's mark on them and strachan wants to have his mark on the players and it's a bit hard for that to happen to players already set in their own ways and to be fair have come from what was a very successful period under MON.Although Strachan has done wonders MON and his team will always be Idolised for what they achieved and i'm not just talking about seville, before MON came we were in a bad way on the field and MON brought trophys back to celtic in abundance.Strachan may well surpass everything MON did but untill then you always get the feeling that he'll always have to work hard at keeping the faith of the fans.I don't know if it's because MON was widely know as a self confessed celtic fan and percieved as a celtic man and strachan not so because of his love for hibs, but could you imagine if things started to turn sour you get the older players saying "wouldn't have happened under O'Neil"
and it could be for this reason alone he has no faith in the older players.Who knows but it does seem very strange that it's them that seem to have got the rough end of the stick

anyway who knows what sort of * his agent the infamous tony mcgill threw at WGS and the board, because you know i'd refuse to deal with any player who has that * as an agent

Made me feel sad for him until I remembered he gets paid more in a week than I do in 3 years.

Thommo was a cracking player but maybe im just being cynical but this is the first time i have heard anything from Thommo and his contract is bout to run out. Is it a case of he is happy gettin the money for doing nothing but he knows that he will need 2 move on so putting himself in the shop window kind of thing

Feel sorry for the lad, I've always liked him as a player and all you have to do is think of the great times he had.

The Screamer Against Rangers is the one that sticks in my head every time I think about him.

Why feel sorry for him? the article says that he got offers from 2 premiership clubs before the transfer deadline. If he signed for one of those he's still be on a min of 15k a week and getting the chance to play football. He turned it down to sit on his * and collect the wage up here. I don't blame him for it because noone made us give him the contract (same as Bobo), but i certainly don't pity the guy when he picks up over a mil a year from us. If he really wanted to play football he would bite the bullet and earn a measly 750k a year down south.

the situation is really the falut of whoever gave him a massive contract two years ago, at the age he is he should have been offered 1 or 2 years max. hes well within his rights to sit on what he was given. glad to see hes stil proud of the cluba as a whole though

thommo is a legend best left mid in decades i feel.Yes better than collins. He was my hero so i can be impartial.

But the way he has been treated has been shocking i miss him in Old Firm games you always knew he was going to to do something special and he was wrongly sent off twice that novo tackle and that lovenpants 'head-*'

I would fling him in this weekend without hesitation imigine how he would play?

It would be sight. like lennon sutton and hartson he had that fire for that game took it more seriously than some in the stands and i love seeing that passion i take it just as seriously as the result itself.

I think he deserves at least once shot at it, i mean considering what he has done for this club he deserves it,although football is not about nostalgia,he has always had the quality to be given atleast a chance

Thompson played really well for Celtic, but alas he doesnt have what it takes now, and yes some on the present team are in that catagory, however there is no way Thompson was better than the wee barra Collins, he was a General on the park, Thompson was only a Lieutenant. :86:

Think Celtic could of shown him a bit more respect, making him feel like an outcast on training days and mach days is a bit harsh. Yea he isnt good enough to hold down a starting place anymore but he has alot of expieriance that would b useful on match days and training days.
And as for the bit about sutton.....disgrace!!

Very sad to see things come to an end for Thompson like this. I will always have great memories of his many great goals and assists to Larsson.

youv misread the article or didnt bother reading it at all

'He had offers from two Premiership clubs on the closing days of the transfer window at the end of August, but was unable to agree compensation with Celtic on the remainder of his contract'

it worked both ways ,the club obvoiusly dont mind him getting the wages or maybe a compensation could have been agreed , i dont think he would have been asking too much
