Whilst we are all dissapointed about the result yesterday i am even more dissapointed at some of the threads and posts resulting from the defeat that i have read which makes me ask the question in thread title Fan or Supporter ?.

We are now entering the most crucial part of the season and imo we need the celtic support to get right behind the team for the remainder of the season and roar us on to the title and scottish cup :50:

Before the game yesterday Lennon was a * and samaras was getting the most praise he has ever from our support due his performances against the huns in the 4 previous games this year now he is back to being the scapegoat amonst some fans after yesterday and its the same with lennon with the usual " He cant win the big games " threads popping up again because we lost yesterday.

I count myself as a celtic supporter as i feel there is a difference between being a supporter and being a fan as a supporter will enjoy the good times and support them through any bad times whereas some fans go overboard when we win and is far too over critical when we lose criticising everybody from the directors to the team bus driver :38:

So for the rest of the season lets try and all become supporters and try and drive the bhoys on for rest of the season and hopefully the double :50:

    Hail Hail

Football fans are fickle and will forever be guilty of overreaction. The team needs our support and they will get it.

The forum allows supporters to get their feelings about a game off their chest. While I don't agree with some posts, everyone is entitled to their opinion on the game they have just watched. A player who is being slated this week, may get praise the next game. It's the nature of it. It is understandable considering we had just lost an old firm cup final and everyone is hurting from it

well said, my feelings too, everyone of us is entitled to vent our hurt and show our elation, the mods are here if people go overboard, because someone is eternally optimistic doesnt mean you love the bhoys more

I'm a fanatical supporter. But some fans are just letting off steam as it affects everyone differently, some people have to face the scum ie at work or even back at home or maybe they've put a lot of money on Celtic winning etc etc. So fans will always have some sort of reaction to the defeat. In a few days when it all blows over it will be a different scenario. So I wouldn't read too much into some posts flying about people are just hurting and we say some really silly stuff and point fingers when we are in pain.

We were * yesterday end of.

But we will get over it so will the players

what doesnt break you only makes you stronger.

It's unfair to critisise Lenny after the work he has done with a team of strangers.as for sammy and the players if it's so terrible to slate them then we shouldnt be praising them when they do well

good post.people who don't have to listen to the huns probably won't be as worked up as ones who do.everyone is different, but when the dust settles it'll be different

We can all get behind the team but we can still have an opinion if a player merits his place on the team. The place for fans to vent their frustration is on this or other forums rather than at the stadia.
Even players like Samaras who have got a lot of criticism have also got their supporters.

who the * cares? if you want to come on a message board and have a wee moan because you're hurtin, then fair do's. it's not like we're them and we go home and beat up our kids and wife about it. a bit ironic to be critical about supporters who are critical. theres a simple way to fix a post that you don't like.....just skip to the next one and don't read that again

well im a die hard celtic fan! and i think the term supporter? will just be someone who likes the team but thats as far as it goes! and a fan like me and you! will be with the club until our last breath! but thats what i think anyway.

people have their own coping mechanisms, i calmed down quite quickly, which i was surprised at but i would rather look ahead to the next game than dwell on an uncharacteristic performance. the purpose of this site i for people to discuss the team and vent frustration. people make threads and posts in the heat of the moment. i dont like it when one fan tries to get a 1 up over another. not that that is strictly what is happening here but that is what it seems like to me.

I agree with people that the purpose of a forum is to discuss opinions be it venting or praising but I also agree with the OP in that the venting can be done in a better way instead of just irrational rage towards one of our own players. I'd much rather get behind them instead. Let Lenny vent the rage at them :icon_mrgreen:

IMO, a supporter is someone who will actively support the team by attending games whereas a fan will generally watch the games on telly.

Just my take on it, absolutely no offence meant.

but then you've got guys who have been supporting celtic for years, went to a good few games but haven't got the money to go all the time, whereas you get some folk whose maw and da will be paying for all their tickets and that.i would say a supporter is someone like us all,on here all the time.thinking about celtic night and day and a fan is someone who doesn't take as much interest.kind of a part time supporter
