The Oscars

He's nowhere near as good as any of those three.

 

I haven't seen The Revenant so can't really comment on the win, and I don't think he's quite as good as the likes of De Niro, Pacino or Nicholson but his performance in The Departed was definitely Oscar worthy. Probably Shutter Island as well although I don't know off the top of my head who won it that year.

He's been great in a few others. The Aviator, Wolf Of Wall Street, Gangs of New York, Blood Diamond, Inception etc but not sure if they were Oscar winning performances.

 

He was great in WoWS, but he didn't deserve the Oscar for it.

 

Hes never going to emulate them three as agreed,however for our generation he is the best so far.

The problem i only see for the future is that there arent many stand out directors,when scorcese snuffs it,theres no more massive directors that can do films like him and direct Dicaprio to even bigger things.

 

I don't agree he's the best of this generation. For me, Christian Bale is better for a start.

 

only seen bale in the dark knight tbh....when i seen his outrage youtube vid where he ripped that lighting guy to pieces was * and i went right off him....Ill try to check out some of his movies tho.

I think i remember him in empire of the sun though.


I like Ed Norton,Paul Giamatti,Denzel washington just now though,flying through their movies

 

Bale was good in The Fighter thats a right good film

 

I highly recommend The Prestige. Bale and Hugh Jackman, Christopher Nolan directing.

Fantastic film.

 

Agree, one of the best films i've seen.

He's also great in The Machinist.

It was probably a bad year for good films last year as I didnt think the Revenant was that good yet it was odds on favourite for an Oscar, would say i've seen like 50 better films than that in the 2000s, Room too I thought was a very good film, better than the Revenant but again not a great film not seen the other nominated ones. Only other thing i've seen him in is American Psycho which he's very good in as well although its not as good a film as The Prestige or The Machinist.

 

I didn't watch it but I was very happy to see Spotlight win best picture. A brilliantly done and very moving film.

 

I liked Bale in American Psycho. Great film and book as well.

 

The best and only thing of interest to me during the Oscars, was Chris Rock's opening monologue.Superb.

 

This is very much worth a 6 year bump.

 

should turn the show into a full blown gerry springer to get the views back up.

 

Apparently after Chris Rock made the joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith was on camera and he was laughing and grinning, which seems to suggest he was fine with it initially, but from what I understand JPS had a look of definitely not being ok with it. Then, at some point after the different camera angle was back on Rock on stage, Will Smith must've seen his wife's face/reaction and realized that she was not ok with it, which prompted his stepping up onto stage for that slap and subsequent outburst.

 

That relationship is toxic as * now

 

All smiles in hollywood and all that, but so many rotten disgusting people among celebrities. Fair play to Will Smith imo. His relationship with Chris Rock is obviously toxic even before this.

 

A multi-millionaire Scientologist that can’t take a joke slapped a comedian for doing his job…no so much fair play, more just being a * by the looks of it? Then makes a speech after about peace lol

 

Joking about a disease that he knew about (im sure he did) is just rotten. Slapping someone is never the right move though, but some * just deserve a slapping as words wont bite on them.
