    I didn't even realise that! I admire a club like Reading that will not be bullied by bigger teams over their better players - e.g. Dundee Utd telling Rangers to * off!:56: Hear, Hear Arabs!

    However, if that's their game and nobody signs Long before Aug 31st then surely when January comes, he would have the right to say "OK, I'm going to whomever I want for no more than £3.5m, and if not, I'm gonna just run down my contract."

    my guess is long will be at celtic before the window shuts for maximium 3.5 million as they will panic about him signing a pre contract.
