i live in England and have never heard anyone single Doyle out for praise. Jarvis on the other hand seems to over shadow him. i wouldn't say both these players are keeping Wolves up alone. i mean Fletcher has scored the same amount as Doyle despite playing less games and Ebanks-Blake has scored more than him in the league.

from what i've seen Long and Hooper are similar players. i've only ever seen Long score from outside the box twice, something he has in common with Hooper. yes, Long is probably better than Hooper in the air but speed-wise there's not much in it. both are very hard working and i think they would compliment each other well. then again i haven't seen much of him so may be off base.

 

Would love Celtic to sign Long, constantly impressing week in, week out with Reading. Can see bigger EPL teams coming in for him though and him being off there.

nope. never heard it. not even when he made the move from Reading to Wolves. i don't see what some fans see in him. we get this a lot with some fans. sometimes talent is over looked if a player or manager meets the requirements of being a 'Celtic man'.

i'd want us to aim higher than Doyle, no disrespect to the lad.

and as for Long, we'll always have a chance as long as he doesn't sign a contract extension.

 

I don't agree at all, we would be lucky to get Doyle. Eveyone I know rates him, and the media always single him out for praise. There was an analysis of his performance on MOTD a few weeks ago and the pundits all love him. I know a few Newcastle fans and they're all relieved he won't be playing at the weekend. So I don't know how you can never have seen anyone praise him.

 

I think that Doyle is a decent enough player he seems to shine for wolves every week in the EPL holds the ball up well and works hard is good in the air and there are rumours that bigger clubs in the EPL are looking at him, And Shane Long I like him personally that boy is fast ! his pace can cause any defence problems on his day and he can get in behind the defence

 

I'd take Shane Long in a heartbeat, brilliant player.

Doyle I rate really highly, but I think he would cost us too much.

 

i must have missed the media's constant praise towards Doyle. he's a good player but i hope we are aiming higher. it isn't a bad thing. even when he was at Reading i didn't hear a lot about his performances - i live in north London. i can honestly say i haven't heard any of my friends or workmates worrying about the threat caused by Doyle this season.

 

anyway back on topic. see Newcastle, Wolves, Aston Villa, West Ham and Stoke are interested in Long now.

tbh if we aren't priced out of a deal due to these clubs raising Readings asking bid then i think Long would choose us if he wants to show some ambition.

i mean the others could offer more money and a crack at the EPL but Wolves and West Ham will go down, Newcastle aren't the big club that everyone seems to think they are, Villa will struggle for as long as Houllier is there and Stoke? who would want to go to Stoke? they'll forever be in a relegation battle until they eventually go down.

 

I would rather have Doyle than Long, Don't think he would come up here though. I would only take long if he was free wouldn't want Lenny splashing big bucks on him.

 

Doyle is quality he's an absolute work-horse most Irish fan's think him and big Dunne are Ireland's main players. Doyle is also one of the most unselfish players you will ever see and would love the lad to sign here can't see it happening same with Long he's quality.

 

2 goals again today quality palyer but i think premiership teams will definitatly be looking at him and we could lose out.

 

Aye hes on top form scoring every game now but i cant see us gettin him....

 

Was talking with her dad about him last night and he said that Liverpool are watching him and could make a move for him.

Would be a class coup if we could land him on a free up there with the Ledley deal for me.

he's not on a free. his contract runs out in 2012.
