GARY HOOPER outgunned £35million-man Andy Carroll last season and has already hit more goals than Liverpool's new striker this term.

That's why the Celtic striker's former team-mate Michael O'Connor is convinced his old Scunthorpe pal is every bit as good as the new Anfield star.

I'm not so sure but we did get a bargin, well done Lennon. Might see Carroll and Hooper playing for England one day (hopefully while he's still at Celtic).

We should be extending this lad contract asap.

Totally different player than Carroll and to be fair Carroll has been doing it against some of the biggest clubs in Europe but like everyone im delighted with Hooper so far.

    Cant compare really.

But based on Hoopers finishing, and last season, you could argue Hooper is a better goal scorer.

Hard to compare as the two of them are playing completely different teams, but hooper is certainly a good goalscorer

I would have hooper in my team over Andy Carroll.

He's not just a goal scorer though, Hooper is very strong, agile, very good first touch and has good vision.

Hooper outshone him when he was in the same league with a weaker team. Carrol's only advantage on Hooper is how good he is in the air.

There's a few who would rather Carroll for his overall game but for me it's hooper..

Don't think Carroll will cut it at anfield tbh and will likely be shipped to a mid table team after a year... Just my opinion... Really depends if suarez and the midfield can get goals. Which there capable of with merales (sp?) in there..

I'd say hooper was the more natural striker.

carrol is great in the air, also wants the ball to his feet, he has shown in newcastle
that he is never sure when to run or when to stop seems to miss time runs
also his attitude off the field is poor,i think the 35 mill will go to his empty head
also never worth the silly money

the wee man hooper,i believe is more intelligent, also really strong on the ball and can finish

if that is the case could possibly be

6months playing well in the premiership and your a superstar especially if your english its a joke. not only Carroll but you look at the prices of the likes of Milner, Lescott and the figures being talked about for players like Gary Cahill. no doubt there good players but well over valued. it makes you wonder how much hooper kayal etc value would rise if they were to play half a season in the premiership. Charlie Adams and Steven fletcher are good examples.

While Hoops is a great player, Carroll is superior, and has more raw potential.

If given a chance in the EPL and he takes it then he could be. It's hard to judge but he is fantastic player in my opinion.

2 different types of players so cant compare, hoopers technical ability is quite execellent considering he came from the championship, his link up play is the real deal, and his little flicks and tricks are doing the damage, he is also very clever and has a predators eye for goal!!! Looks like we have found a real talent in him :50:

Were as carrol is a 6,3 battering ram, he is amazingg in the air, has a bit of pace and can shoot from outside the box, but kenny must be mad paying 35 million pound for carrol, its ludicrous and imo wont return the goals for the money paid, * they could have got 3 proven strikers for that kind of money

Gary Hooper - Better goalscorer, has great first touch and link up play is outstanding. He can balance the game and hold the ball for the midfield to come into the scene and has quite good pace aswell. Can always rely on the guy.

Andy Carroll - Great height and has great pace for his height. He is brilliant in the air and offers more out wide than Hooper does. He doesn't score as many as Hooper but he's not far off. They both can be Englands future strikers given the chance :50:

I really hope Hooper gets the cap that we all want him to get, as much as I don't like England if Hooper plays for them while playing for us then I will support that one player on the pitch for the England team.

Don't see how Carroll is better than Hooper apart from in the air.
