Anthony Stokes

I like to see players playing well though, Commons I think has got worse the more prolific he has become. Was even a couple of times today he got the ball and took 2 or 3 touches trying to carry it forward a bit and then play it wide so he could get forward when Matthews or Griffiths were miles clear to be passed to but he wasnt even thinking about it or aware.

Elements of greed about him.

I would say our best players this season have been Van Dijk, Izaguirre, Lustig until injury, Stokes and then Commons.

 

I dont think he has, he's scored a lot of goals but he's been scoring more goals but playing worse than he usually does. He hasn't added all the goals to his normal game, his normal game has suffered to score the added goals.

 

Commons has been excellent, thought he was good today as well.

 

He had a bit of a mate first half. Counted at least five occasions where he have the ball away through poor touches and running down dead-ends. Improved as the game went on though.

Stokes did the same but his link-up play with Griffiths is really promising.

 

Who would you rather have in the hole ? And no jokes please
A weak Ki who is easily brushed off the ball with six goals all year round, or a solid Commons with 26 goals and maybe more yet to come, and who hasn't missed a penalty all year too ?

Thought he was poor today and against Kilmarnock.

Commons has only assisted 3 goals in his last 25 games. Although he has scored 20 lol Before then he averaged an assist every 2.8 games.

 

Id rather Stokes or Forrest were playing there in recent games. He is scoring a lot of goals so he's not been that bad obviously but he isnt doing enough other than scoring.

 

I definitely think for The Champions League, it would be better for Stokesy to play instead of Commons in the attacking midfield role....far quicker on the ball and his workrate/speed is better

 

I thought he was poor first half as well, but after my outburst in the last game before he went on to score a hat trick I learned to keep my mouth shut this time. :smiley-laughing002:

He is prolific as *, no doubt about it but his first touch is terrible a lot of the time. I think I would much rather see him pushed right up front like earlier in the season and let Stokes pull the strings from behind the front two.

For the people who posted earlier this season that Stokes needed a goal scoring attacker in front of him , I have to say to them fair play . It was a really rejuvenated Stokes we seen today , a highly intelligent and unselfish display .

Stokes brings nothing important to our squad, apart from the odd assist & goal.

Could easily be replaced by someone better (Tony Watt for example) who brings both on a regular basis, or another Griffiths.

Stokes is lazy and moans when things don't go his way, he's like a little kid
