like lenny this is a big season for him i feel! he had 1 or 2 run ins with lenny(apparently) so i think he will have to knuckle down in that respect.

I think he'll be back-up next season. High quality back up.

i really hope he starts against the huns next season. imo to score against rangers would mean more to stokes than any other player in the celtic squad.

    Back up to who?

He should be back up to no one, Scored more goals to minutes on the park than hooper and set up more goals.

i rate stokesy, i for one am glad he'll be here another season. as for your question i think it depends on the striker or strikers we'll bring in.

Stokes is a quality player imo. He was just as good as Hooper last season and should have been given a chance against the huns. Celtic are great to watch when him and Hooper are on form

Needs to start every game with Hooper. No question.

Hope we're arranging a transfer out for Samaras.

People go on about Hooper as if he's untouchable but forget that for a lot of games, particularly towards the end of the season, he was woeful.

I would say it's not entirely coincidental that this started to happen when Stokes started dropping in and out the team.

Yes, for some games in the SPL and Europe we need a big targetman.

But most of the team what we need is somebody to compliment Hooper - someone with good movement, good vision, good link-up play and the ability to bag some goals himself. Stokes has all that in abundance, yet people constantly say that he's not good enough.

IMO the guy is class!!! was chuffed to bits when we signed him and think he gets far to much stick!! He's young and will mature so i hope he's here for a long time. I rate him more than hooper (who i also think is class) If Stokes gets a good crack at it he'll finish top scorer this season :D HH

Hooper and the other striker we bring in. I don't think Stokes has the mentality or maturity to play as a regular centre forward for Celtic. He has far too many games where nothing goes right for him, his decision-making becomes more and more erratic and he becomes detrimental to the team. I think we need a more consistent and reliable striker to partner Hooper.

He definately has ability and certainly has goals at this level. I think though his all round game need work. He has games where he constantly tries daft clicks or glory shots etc when there is only a small chance of them coming off. Another bad side of his game is he is not good at hold up play and inability to play up front on his own. So, he is not IMO near as good a player as Hooper. I wouldnt want to think Stokes is a being relied on as a first pick next season. Nor Sammy. They should be choices 3 and 4 for the two striker spots IMO. Hoops is no.1 but we need to sign the no.2 IMO.

Stokes deserved a shot at the huns, Hooper wouldn't have been so successful without him. I feel Lenny made one of his few mistakes in his first season by breaking up that partnership at crucial stages of the season, away to Hearts for example. The huns adapted well to deal with the Samaras threat and I believe we should have played our own game against them(which includes the Hooper/Stokes partnership) especially in the last huns game. Their movement and understanding would have killed them.

Stokes needs to cut out the nonsense a knuckle down and he and Hooper could run riot again this season especially if they stay injury free. Should be Hooper and Stokes with Samaras as the back up....in the absence of a new striker of course.:shamrock:

I think the fact he was dropped a couple times against the huns and pushed onto right wing the other time masks the season he had.

He played a shitload of games, set up a shitload of goals and scored a shitload himself as well.

The fact he can be extremely greedy also seems to impede folks opinion of him because he plays nice football, is clever with his movement and knows where the goal is. I'm not sure he receives enough credit but I can see why.

That's a bit shallow, that was country not club if he didn't want to play he shouldn't need to.
