to be honest i think stokes is better than hooper, but playing the 2 of them together is a MUST. none of this sammy or hooper up top alone, if lenny wants to win games, stokes and hooper have to play with eachother and to be honest id pick the team around this partnership

as much as i hate rangers only a fool would say Jelavic is pish.

as for STokes, hes been a great signing. my only fear is how he will react if he gets dropped for the upcoming Rangers games. He has obviously done enough to merit a starting place but will we play the usual system against them?

I don't care if he walks a little, farts and waves at the crowd. As long as he's getting the goals and continuing his good partnership with Hooper, I'm happy :50:

:56::56: I always believed Stokes would be a goal scorer for Celtic im just surprised how good the partnership between Hoops and him is, hopefully they will play together for a long time.

Deserves all the credit he's getting jsut now. Aye he went through a small dodgy patch but we knew he would score goals especially with the right partner, Hooper. Stokes can be a top player and can only get better.
Never deserved half the stick he was getting imo.

Never did deserve the stick he got from some of our supporters. He's banging in the goals at the moment and some of his play this season has been fantastic, especially up top with Gary Hooper. :shamrock:

Really want him to start up top with Hooper on Sunday. Definately feel they can run riot on the R*ngers defence.

Spot on. I was one of his critics on here, wasn't sure if he'd make the grade and looked out of his depth playing the lone striker. The difference when he is paired with hooper is staggering. I am chowing down to some delicious humble pie now. Long may it continue!

I a a big fan of Stokes and can see him finishing top goalscorer this season. Of course there are times he doesn't make the best decisions or takes a touch too much, but on the whole the guy is a great player.

    You shouldn't include penalties though.

    .

cant question his goalscoring this season he has done brilliantly. he frustrates me though as he always wants the ball straight to his feet.

He is growing on me. Think he has improved a lot since Xmas. He seems to be learning to be more of a conventional striker and scoring the more normal striker goals. He has always been a scorer of great goals but I always thought him a bit too keen on trying the spectacular shots or flicks while not being on the spot for the tap ins. However, he is definatley going in the right direction.

What would finally convince me he is as good as we can get is if he improves his hold up play and strength at fending off defenders. Much smaller guys than him like Hooper and Skippy had that ability to make defenders bounce off them and hold off the physical challenge. He is a reasonable size so he should definately be able to improve that. Also would like him to improve in the air. Again he is a decent size and smaller guys like Wilson seem to have hugely improved their aerial ability in the last year. It can be done. Caldwell was another guy who hugely improved his leaping ability as he got older.

Why's that? Have they stopped giving goals for penalties now?
