Gary Holt is too young, we need someone a little more experienced for Europe.

Who's Gary holt? Grant holt would be decent but he's 31 so I doubt it, doesn't really fit with our signing policy in recent years.

Grant Holt would be great. However I would only take him if he was going to be partnered with Hooper. If it was to be part of a deal for Norwich to sign Hooper then no thanks. Both of them together? Yes please.

Is that really some peoples standard of celtic signing....Grant Holt. That is not the clubs signing policy and even if it was we should not be signing a player who has spent his whole career at very poor english teams

We are still lacking a powerful striker upfront and Holt fits that description no matter what age or what level he might have played at during his career. He managed to hit 15 goals in the EPL last year remember. He has only hit 4 this year but has been out of favour most of the season. Holt and Hooper upfront would be a great combination.

He may be 31 but I would definetely take him here, if the price was right ofcourse. We could get a good few years out of him.

We could do ALOT worse than Grant Holt.

This should not be the thinking of a celtic manager or celtic scout. We want players who are coming into the best years of their career, full of hunger wanting to make a name for themselves. We then sell these players on for a large profit and this keeps the business a success. We should also be bringing through our best youth along with those players. No way would I want a 31 year old washed up english forward getting in ahead of one of our countries brightest young strikers in Watt.

Fair enough, but I personally do not think that every single signing we make from now on should be made with the idea of making a profit out of it. Bringing in one or two experienced players with little sell on value surely cannot hurt. Don't get me wrong, I like our signing policy but it would not be an utter disaster to go against it, even just once to see how it works out.

I would still take Holt here regardless of whether we should be trying to bleed in Tony Watt. Why not have Holt, Hooper and Watt and rotate between the 3? Holt would give us a different option upfront and something that we currently lack. A strong, powerful striker who can hold the ball up, bring others into play and actually be a threat in the air.

Lennon said Lassad could act as the "target man" that we need, but from what I have seen so far of him I do not think he is that kind of striker. If we could pick Holt up cheaply I do not see why we would turn down the chance to bring him in.
