Hi mate thanks again for your response. Like your approach to allow the guy to progress his career if a good opportunity arises and wish him well. seems he has served your club well and always good to receive some cash back for your clubs efforts in his development.

He has been with Brann for 5 years but only played regularly the last two years? i presume he improved a lot once given more game time?
I would have thought the better teams in Norway (i hope i dont cause disrespect to Brann) like Rosenborg, etc would be interested?

What level of club do you think he could realistically play for at present or in future years with more development (just trying to get an idea of his true ability) top 4 english side? if thats the case lets get him in a hooped shirt pronto.:icon_mrgreen: but i'll let you give me an honest answer.
We are always trying to improve our team and want players who will not only make us the best team in Scotland once again for next few years (which hopefully we are on course to do) but also to enhance our chances in European competitions. Celtic will never win the Champs lge but would like to think we can give a good account of ourself, i.e into knockout stages and perhaps further in a couple of years once our team really settles (a lot of new faces!!) with the addittion of a couple more players which will lift the team further and make a real difference when/where it matters. Lets hope if Celts sign Erik he while be able to do just that.

All the best mate and like to wish Brann all the best in the next league campaign

    WALKON-

maybe he would only ever play for Brann in Norway or maybe they would never sell to a rival.

SunSport understands Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell was locked in talks with Brann Bergen officials to agree a fee.
Brann had initially demanded £2m for the international ace, who netted in the 4-0 thrashing of Scotland in a World Cup qualifier in August 2009.
Celtic's opening offer was less than £1m. But Lawwell is believed to have upped their bid by at least £400,000 - and was poised to get his man.
Terms have already been agreed with the player's representatives, the same agents who brokered Thomas Rogne's move to Celtic a year ago.
Huseklepp has set his heart on joining Celtic, despite interest from clubs in Spain, France, Germany and England.
He believes the Hoops are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Indeed, Huseklepp is so wound up about the idea that he had to miss training yesterday after being SICK.
The player, currently out of action because of Norwegian football's winter break, told Scandinavian media: "I have a dream to play abroad and it seems closer now. I'll just wait and see what happens.
"My team-mate at Brann, Peter Vagen-Moen, recently got his move and signed for QPR. I hope this is now my chance."
Brann managing director Roald Bruun-Hanssen landed in Glasgow yesterday to iron out negotiations between the clubs.
Huseklepp, 26, is under contract until 2013. But he only signed the deal after gaining a gentleman's agreement that he could leave if a set amount was offered.

Express Update on Two Deal including Hunskelper:

CELTIC SET FOR DOUBLE SWOOP TO STAY AT TOP

Norway striker Erik Huseklepp is the subject of a £1million move.

    [IMG] Have your say(0)

ERIK HUSEKLEPP last night claimed he's ready to jump into action at Celtic as Portuguese defender Marco Caneira opened talks to land a free transfer to Parkhead himself.

[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]Norway striker Huseklepp is the subject of a £1million move from the Hoops and Brann Bergen general manager Roald Bruun-Hanssen has visited Glasgow for negotiations.

The Norwegian league season ended in November, but Huseklepp is keen to land a deal and insists he is fit enough to play right now.

The 26-year-old said:"I'm in good shape.I have trained a lot during the holidays on strength, stamina and football.

" I do dream about playing abroad and for a big club like Celtic .There have been some phone calls and some agents have been in touch.I hope it goes well for me and that I get a move."

Meanwhile, centre-half Caneira was last night locked in talks with Sporting Lisbon general manager Jose Couceiro over his future.

Sources in Portugal state that Caneira is owed money by the club under the terms of his current contract, which runs until 2012.

He is believed to be putting forward a suggestion that the cash is written off in return for a free transfer.

The 31-year-old has been out of the picture at Sporting over the past few months and, as Express Sport exclusively revealed last week, has already had a training stint at Celtic's Lennoxtown base.

He played in a bounce game and manager Neil Lennon admitted there is scope for him to return on a permanent arrangement.

Of course mate, i'm a big fan of Forrest and also got the players you mention to fill the wide roles as and when it suits. But the lad from Norway states that he can and has played as a striker so i guess he would be earmarked to play as one.

Sammy might be on the way out. So it make sense to sight another striker and, from what I've seen of this lad limited as this maybe, he seems different to Sammy, Stokes & Hooperman. I think he could make a real tastey partnership with Hooper. If he signs and Sammy stays then we need to move on Murphy

Apparently they are wanting £2m when we are wanting to pay £1m; so I reckon we'll sign him around £1.4m.

    Usual back and forth.

Skysports.com understands that Rangers are set to rival Celtic for the signature of Erik Huseklepp.
Celtic[IMG] are in advanced talks to land the Norway international, who is currently with Brann.
Huseklepp[IMG] is available for just £1million thanks to a clause in his contract and the player's agents travelled to Glasgow earlier this week to open talks with Celtic.
However, it is now believed that Rangers[IMG] are ready to make a counter offer and give the 26-year-old another option.
While Celtic remain favourites, they will no doubt be vexed by the possibility of losing out to their arch-rivals over one of their top targets.

*, we better wrap this up quickly, i think we have the advantage being in advanced talks, also think our scandanavian players would make it easier for him to fit in
