Excellent decision to ban them, hope it was permanent. Short of a few braincells to do something like that knowing fine well it can upset a lot of people.

 

If upsetting people and/or being short of a few braincells were bannable offences, this place would have about 5 members left.

It was stupid, unoriginal, tacky... all of these things. Banning them outright is very, very harsh, though.

 

Have you ever been to a derby match? Have you ever got caught up in the poison and maybe shouted/sang/done something you probably shouldn't have?

Well I hope you never get caught in future and get banned for life.

Give the group a last warning, split them up maybe but banning them is excessive.

I think along the same lines as SD. The group has been a problem, lots of complaints about them from fellow fans; so it's a bit different from the GB situation and yet AFAIK no action has been taken until banning. Giving them enough rope to hang themselves (a reference to Lawwell's comment a few years back, not a distasteful attempt at humour) perhaps?

But to take the analogy of this forum further, we don't permanently ban people out of the blue (unless their offence is being an actual hun or posting something racist, which is not really comparable to SMV); there are in-thread warnings, then there are informal warnings, then official warnings, then 2-day bans followed by bans of increasing length and then, finally, permanent bans for those who just won't listen.

Surely if the group have received a lot of complaints then the Club have previously discussed this with them ? so this ban is maybe not a surprise at all then.
I see what you mean about the banning process on here but this place, thankfully, doesn’t receive the same level of scrutiny that the Club does.

 

I think the issue here is that this wasn't just a case of "getting caught up in the poison" and making an error in the moment, it was pre-planned idiocy. I don't know enough about the group or their history to really comment on whether banning them is harsh or not, but some of the stories about them don't exactly paint them in good light.

 

Still can't believe the GB are getting blamed for this. The dolls were nowhere near them and I didn't even see them at the game. Deflection cos they got battered. We're not moaning about Barcelona violently raping our defence!

I don't think the way to deal with lots of small problems is an immediate permanent ban, mate. That kind of thing should be saved for major transgressions.
The way to deal with persistent low-level issues is escalating bans.

Personally for this I'd have banned them from all Sevco games for a couple of seasons at most.
