Are they not technically setting a precedent which bans all countries flags from being shown at any football game played in uefa competition?

Why have we not faced punishment for waving Ireland flags in the past? Or the oldco for waving Union Jacks or red hand of Ulster flags?

Regardless of the politics, the point stands as it was clearly going to cause the club problems and we were aware of this.

Would it be too much not to do this?

My worry is action against the club but also this meaning attention on the standing section. Why take steps to ruin such a good thing. This didnt need to be done.

More to the point why have Ajax or Spurs never received fines for displaying the flag of a country that they have no connection with whatsoever and can only be described as being political or meant as an act of provacation.

Without acting stupid about this I'd suggest any flag that was deemed to be a statement against Israel or Zionism is going to be stamped on in a different way than other political gestures made.

To repeat an earlier point, I don't see how anyone can be surprised at today's ruling despite many claiming to be when you consider Bayern had a section of the Allianz shut down for a wee flag taking the * out of Ozil that said "Gay Gooners" mind you like Israel that seems a topic you can't even make a joke about without being labelled a danger to society.

Thats fantastic, celtic park on the palestinian news and images of our crest on buidings.
In the grand scheme of things our support for palstine probably wont achieve anything apart
from getting into trouble again from they uefa *.
But for the palestinian people, it shows them that the world has not forgotten them and that
    alone must give them hope.
I am proud to call myself a Celtic fan :shamrock:

Been getting a lot of press in Middle Eastern media and many in Palestine have seen it and have been encouraged that somebody out there is trying to put the issue out there. How a FIFA member's flag can be seen as a political banner is unreal to me, especially given the fact that we always fly it, but this is being examined in the media much more now beyond the parochial Scottish media who will just criticize it.

It is a political statement. We didn't fly any Palestinian flags up in Perth today because our opposition wasnt Israeli. Flying the Palestinian flag against an Israeli team - a club with no political identity as far as I'm aware- turned political by the fact that they were Israeli. Some said, We are going to make this about Zionism and Palestine. It doesn't get more political than that. In my mind, they still have a right to do it though.

I can understand their anger though. It would be like Celtic going to Milan and them unfolding a banner of the Queen and waving thousand of Union Flags. We would not be going, "nothing there. Just some innocent flag waving" or saying "good for them supporting Protestant Unionism. That's their right to do it". We would be gnashing our teeth.
