Do you know what I can't even remember that, says it all about the lasting effects of these. Although I would be very surprised if it was on the same scale.

Anyone got any idea when we'll find out the repercussions?

Hanging around the stadium last night I heard several conversations with folk having to be explained what the conflict is about.

Is that not what this was all about? Bringing the conflict to the attention of others and get them talking about it.

Maybe there are also people educating themselves on this now, which could be a good thing as there are to many ignorant people out there who believe everything they read in the papers and if they don't read it it never happened.

Just have to look at the people who are scared we might get a stand closed just because a rag says so, wonder if they cared if it was a cold January against Thistle.

I think the fact that you specifically can't remember that says very little that we didn't already know about the lasting effect of these things. What are you expecting? I don't think anyone is under any illusions about what a flag display can achieve, only someone very naïve would think it would have a massive effect overnight on, say, UK support for Israel.

On the other hand if you look at it a different way, it looks much more worthwhile:

    1) By the sounds of it, many Palestinians themselves appreciate it. To at least know that they are not completely forgotten seems to be a thing.

    2) It was part of a chain of displays, including other clubs but also earlier displays at Celtic (such as the "dignity is more important than food" one). Every time one of these things happen a few more people get a bit better informed. Eventually (through everything that is being done, not just what football fans are doing) you would hope that enough people will be aware that public opinion will reach a tipping point. At that point, it will become much harder for the UK government to support Israel and for the MSM to feed us grotesquely distorted stories about the region.

A flag display isn't earth shattering, no; but it is our small contribution as a fanbase.

Totally agree it's good that talking about it was clearly a positive thing but that wasn't my point, it was more or less along the lines of many are indifferent or simply don't care about it or politics in general and they have as much right to adopt that stance as folk like us who are interested.

I already brought up Crvena Zvezda earlier in the thread and again yesterday they had UEFA MAFIA banners in Italy at there game in the Europa League and protests over Kosovo, I understand that is more of an issue right now to the authorities than some flags at Parkhead.

Aye it is indeed. Wonder if that's the Israeli flag that was 'snatched', something else that's embarrassing.
I have a couple of mates due to head out there on Monday as well which is worrying.
