Well as Mrs Brown's Bhoys points out, the board have yet to release any official documents showing that they have been put under such pressure. Also, as others have mentioned, Sevco even use some of these things in their marketing! They don't seem to be under any pressure. Thirdly the board don't seem to have a problem with the huddle, which is surely much more dangerous due to the sheer numbers involved. Add to all this the evidence from last season of an agenda against the GB and the timing of this and, frankly, I'm very skeptical. Anyway, even if it is coming from the Council and Celtic later release documents proving it, if we all back the GB, the council will pretty much have to allow safe standing as they couldn't lose face by backing down and equally they are elected and so couldn't risk political suicide by shutting down the city's biggest and most famous football club (and possibly Glasgow's most recognised institution worldwide). Like I say, though: I'm skeptical. I think Lawwell wants (and has wanted for a while) politics and rebel songs out of CP and this is just an excuse. Why? I think his vision is for us to be something like Man Utd and playing in the EPL and he's doing what is necessary to try and make that happen.

Safe standing would be great but there is a real issue of fans leaving their own designated seat/standing area to congregate in the one section. This becomes harder to manage in a safe standing area as you can pack a section more leaving the stewards/police with a tougher job to do

No they dont, why would they? They just have to say that the risk of injury increases considering fans dont behave in an all seater stadium and thats it. All avenues for the club to get permission are exhausted very quickly. We need to demonstrate that we can comply with all the H&S rules before we have a chance at Safe Standing.

This could happen without lateral movement , I could trip on the stairs walking up to my seat take a nasty fall and die . So should we just close the whole stadium permanently because someone may happen?

Ur the one wanting to shut the whole stadium.
Hurting yourself while doing something lawful is one thing, celtic allowing you to break the law or rules and you getting hurt is a whole new ball game....pardon the pun.:icon_mrgreen:

I wouldn't want it to be. I was just pointing out that there is safety risks at every single game and to close something because someone might get hurt is ridiculous especially when there has been no examples of anyone getting hurt in the section in question.

It may be that celtic have nothing from the council but are acting before something happens instead of after it happens, prevention is better than cure as they say.
The council don't have to do * simple as that.
Rangers do this and rangers do that, well celtic dont care what the * they are doing over the road, and anyone taking that into a meeting will just get laughed at.

If your going to close sections because someone could potentially hurt themselves with absolutely no examples of anyone being hurt. You might as well close the entire ground because someone might potentially hurt themselves.

    That's all I'm saying.

But the risk in 111 is higher than other parts of the stadium due to what goes on in there.

Anyway its 2am im out of here.:bye1:

The club are duty bound to assess all risk in and around the stadium. They will have books of documents detailing where risks are, the potential injuries and what procedures they will follow when something happens and the procedure they have to prevent injuries happening. This is all reviewed to get a safety certificate.

Closing a section because there is a risk of injury is a reality, all there needs to be a risk, a complaint from police/stewards/fans/safety officers and the club has to comply with the procedures they said they'd implement, update them or whatever is recommended to them by relevant authorities.

H&S is a pain in the stones but its something companies cannot * with. The board are duty bound, legally, to do certain things in certain scenarios. They are being portrayed as enjoying banning the GB, I dont see that as the case at all.

If it was so unsafe I'm sure there would be video evidence of people getting hurt but I haven't seen anything of the like given the amount of coverage they get..

Sit down, shut up, watch the game, clap politely. PAY YOUR MONEY.
Be good little sheep. PAY YOUR MONEY.
Buy the merchandise. PAY YOUR MONEY.
Buy the hot dogs and burgers. PAY YOUR MONEY.
Buy the season ticket. PAY YOUR MONEY.
But dont you * dare stand up, sing songs that might reflect your heritage, or jump around in case some poor little sheep gets hurt.
Health and safety???......... ok, so why dont they put in seats that your * can actually fit into? Why are you so crammed in that you can smell the armpits of the * next to you? Why have turnstiles that you have to squeeze through?
So they can fit in as many sheep as possible. COLLECT THE MONEY.
The most depressing, disturbing, and dissapointing thing about this thread is the amount of fans on here that are happy to be sheep, herded in and told what to do and striking out at anyone who should question what the shepherds are doing. Alright then......just PAY YOUR MONEY.
