No it doesnt, most want to do both but when it comes down to it, they'll support the club. The GB wouldnt have been dispersed if they showed some common sense. You cant expect the club to ignore health and safety issues when they are raised. The GB are well aware of this too. You telling me they cant generate an atmosphere without causing health and safety issues in section 111?

    Good :50:

Although I'm not sure it will be the case I hope this can all be resolved quickly.

What about the Rangers & Motherwell support which has been demonstrated with pictures already on this thread, smoke bombs, crowd surfing etc.. Will their boards close the sections? Simple answer is no. Lawwell has his own personal agenda with the GB and i've no proof to believe otherwise.

The PLC have no trouble marketing the Barca display (which was 100% paid for by the GB) or 'lets all do the huddle merch' and taking all the profit they can on the back of the GB.

'Let the people sing' being played on the tannoy will be the final nail in the coffin. Bunch of suits only interested in money, the sooner football goes back to the fans the better.

How much pressure Celtic is under is highly debatable and highly doubtable. Would a club that's under so much pressure advertise with slogans like "Doing the huddle in the Champions League" encouraging such behavior?

I think it's apparent to all that this in an excuse to smash the Green Brigade. Various sources have confirmed some of the horrible things Peter Lawwell has said at meetings such as giving them "enough rope to hang themselves with" and other comments describing them as "neds" etc if any of those people were lying they would be in a lot of trouble. Also let's not forget that the club was complicit when it came to blocking various season tickets last season without warning or reason and when our fans were subjected to police harassment during a peaceful protest the boards silence was deafening.

What has happened is an utter travesty.

Common sense!? Do you really believe that it's the GB that have failed to show any common sense. :88:
Health and Safety madness is the very thing killing common sense!
The following image is an absolutely genuine poster that I have personally seen in various workplaces.

Hands up anyone that didn't already know how to wash their hands. Common sense, indeed!. :87:

Yeah, lateral movement... such a health and safety concern, all those poor injured children, maimed at the hands of those terrible people who occasionally move sideways onto a set of stairs. Celtic had no choice really.

Standing up is enough to violate health and safety regulations

I'm curious as to how that'd be the one and only reason but if indeed it's purely due to these safety regulations I'm sure the matter could be resolved and here's hoping.

It's not about what has happened it's about what might happen.:50:

The stadium might randomly collapse so they should probably close the whole thing just to be extra safe.

I must admit that I'd like the club to make a more definitive statement detailing exactly why.

Do you have a link to that? I haven't seen it.

It just doesn't make sense to me. What does Lawwell have to gain by getting rid of them or lying about the broken seats? What benefit could he possibly receive by doing so if he and the club are not under any pressure from external rules/regulations?

Still yet to see any official documentation outlining the health and safety concerns and threats of fines and licences being revoked. I don't trust people in positions of power and that doesn't stop at my football club just because it's celtic. If the club do release something backing uo what they say and they state categorically that they informed and warned the GB of it all and that they did their best to work with them, I'll take back what I've said.

However, I'm sure the GB has in the past been excluded from supporter group meetings with the club and I don't remember the club ever doing anything to help the GB with the police harassment and the kettling etc that's occured. The whole thing stinks.

You see, if there were a danger, all they'd have to do is show the GB the engineer's report and you can pretty much guarantee they'd stop. There's simply no evidence that lateral movement is dangerous.

You & I both know the bolded is not going to happen.

I dont care for what Rangers & Motherwell consider acceptable in their stadiums tbh, they are desperate for money are willing to do anything to survive.

What happens in CP is there for Celtic to market and promote the club further, thats terms and conditions in the fine print on the back of your ticket. If Celtic didnt try to maximize their profits, I'm sure fans would be complaining about that too.

The GB could have approached this differently but chose to ignore the warnings.

Celtic board cannot ignore health & safety issues raised by the stewards/police/fans/UEFA etc. They are personally liable/convictions/jail if something serious happens and its demonstrated in court that they didnt take reasonable steps to prevent that happening. You think they are going to expose themselves to that risk for the benefit for the GB? Not a chance.

Health & Safety is not something Celtic can pick and choose to implement. They get complaints, they are compelled by law to follow certain procedures. The GB do know this, I'd be shocked if they didnt, and chose a course of action that left the club with no other choice. Thats the long and the short of it.

That was my understanding but they are selling tickets in there for ICT, normally there are no match tickets for 111 but the several that are available now in there Im assuming are GB who have shipped out!

Second one covers just about everything in the first podcast. The third one has the comments about the "hoodlums, thugs and scum". They are all worth a listen to though

If I had to guess as to why Lawwell would do this. I'd say it's in an attempt to boost our chances of joining the Premier League

Yes the health and safety crew are unreal at times in this country and many country's but they have the power to * you and you'r company up if you don't listen.
I had to wear safety glasses at work cause some fool on another site threw a pen and hit someone in the eye.....lol.
Can Celtic afford not to act and gamble no one will ever be hurt...???

If you start bowing down to lawell and the rest of the suited twats where is it going to end? You say follow the rules simple ones at that but the group have had continues meetings with them cut out add ons on songs etc and there is always new stuff arising! As I says if you stop the lateral movement what next there will always be something to dig them up for

    Let the people sing,
I don't buy into the health and safety argument at all, and think that it is a lame and desperate excuse from the board for disbanding something that offers considerable more positive effects than detrimental ones, in my opinion.

The health and safety 'certificate' issue should be almost discarded when looking at this entire situation for me. If we had a club that really looked after the fans and had it's priorities right regarding the new 'matchday experience' it is forever pushing in our faces this term, then at the first sight of a safety certificate not being renewed the club should have made advancements in terms of safe standing. Proposed safe rail seating/standing areas was and is still an option for the club, and this fact should not be overlooked. Furthermore, when you consider the benefits of such an area's introduction you can see that it ticks all the boxes for which they have problems with, as rows have barriers at aisle thus preventing 'lateral movement'. But, no they spend money bringing in Xboxs, wifi and an in-house bar, which anyone in attendance of the last fours games can see isn't 'listening to supporters' it is a direct response to a continual decline in corporate season packages being sold! And yet still the club website has the audacity to have the slogan 'you spoke we listened' on it's home page!

Yes, the banger that was let off at the Cliftonville game was wrong - but they should've realised that the Green Brigade were not happy about the clown that brought this into the stadium, and that they then warned section members than a recurrence of such an event would see their involvement within the section discontinued permanently. I would also be open to consider UEFA's influence on this matter - many have rumoured that we would have had to play a European tie behind closed doors as punishment if the GB were not dealt with. But again if so, why target Celtic once more whilst this occurs freely without repercussion all over Europe.

Overcrowding - The green brigade have warned on their forum countless times for people to stop coming up when they do not possess a ticket for that section. That is all they can do; responsibilty of this problem cannot be directed at the group and must lie with the inability of the 111 stewards.

Moshing - after the Cliftonville game the group and section members were seen talking against this issue more than i have ever seen and the overall notion was that it would be calmed down.

Crowdsurfing - not safe at all but when they use this as an argument you know they are clutching at straws for reasons; something that happens regularly at gigs etc, and is also the image of a certain clubs season ticket renewal campaign.

Moreover, i still find something very strange at how this season was the very first time in the section's existence that relocation powers were not given to the group as before, but remained solely with the clubs discretion. This factor makes me think this decision is not a reply to 'bad behaviour' in these past few games but something that has been preempted and ready to be released at first opportunity.

Overall though, considering the 'ongoing dialogue' that has been mentioned by Celtic in their statement i don't actually think this is 100% the end of the section. The club will have been keen to use this saga as a way to exert an extent of 'power' over the Green Brigade previously unseen, and to serve as a much stronger warning than usual and that the section will be given back on certain concessions.

The thing is, the green brigade would probably have made these concessions without the threats of a section close as well, as all the given 'reasons' for closure they have said in the very recent past that they will sort out.

The only one they have not conceded yet is the lateral movement thing, and that is because the argument is utter tripe. I admire the green brigade's resilience as much as anyone and think it is impressive the way outside influences never affect them, but if they have to make this one concession then i believe they will. And i hope they do if it means to get the section back. Be stubborn about this issue and the group will be set back about 3/4 years, they need to make the section viable, despite it being difficult with this club being in the only footballing country outwith England that could get away with this treatment to fans. As a director of a club: close any 'curva' in Italy and you would be signing you one way ticket out the country - Not here though, we all get shafted and there are fans who actually support the decision.

Make no mistake which ever side you are on, no section and Celtic Park will go back to the embarrassment that it was under MON and WGS, but this time with less in attendance and the same pocket of away fans spouting 'What a * home support' every single game. I don't want to face that again. I have been proud of Celtic park in recent years.

Doubt many will have bothered with this rant so to sum up - i forecast(/hope) that the section will still be there august 24th v Inverness.
