What's the problem with having bags searched? Makes me feel safer in the stadium if they're making sure nothing offensive (from a knife to a bomb) is going to get through the turnstiles. I do agree it's been taken too far in some cases though, like how can a brolly be a danger to the public?!

The police or the stewards do not have the right to search you, but they do have the right to deny access if you do not agree to be searched.

Attending a Celtic football game is not a basic human right.

It is in the Ground Regulations:

    http://www.celticfc.net/corporate_groundregulations

I find it a bit over the top as well (umbrella's are a necessity in Scotland :icon_mrgreen:) and I find it good that people are careful vis-à-vis the government, but we should not exagerate (as this might trivialise the struggle of people who do suffer from real excessive policing).

Silenzio ..... thanks for the regs / rules

and all persons entering the Stadium may be searched by the Club and/or the Police

key word here .......... MAY... does not say MUST

so where does it say that entry will be refused if not willing to subject to search without a warrant.... ?

might be used as a weapon, ?

shoes off ? and what about fists ? lets face it every article in existence could be used as a weapon ( even if not effective )..

what about consumers rights ? if the SELLING PARTY ie the club do not give full disclosure about all conditions then the buying party could sue

in the absence of any terms and conditions the buying party can only conclude there are none.

The LAW in scotland gives sufficient powers to police to do their jobs. A private company ie CELTIC FC cannot give public officers additional powers.

I think the GB and supporters groups should get a decent human rights lawyer involved to start challenging the HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS going on in and around the stadium.

What happens when you are in the ground and the police want to search you ? what 'reasonable grounds' can they give?

I am not in a position to attend matches (unless they are in asia ) but i am sure other countries do not have to put up with this *... in truth the fans in other countries would not allow themselves to mistreated on a weekly basis

main problem in Scotland is people not enforcing their rights.. and most people would probably struggle to actually state what their rights are.... and carrying weather protection articles in Scotland is a must... was your brolly green and white by any chance

I just checked the last electronic ticket I got from Celtic and it said that the ticket is sold subject to the Celtic FC Ground Regulations.

With respect to other countries: I have been to games in Belgium (very regularly), Germany, Italy, England and The Netherlands and I always found that the police is most relaxed in Scotland and England. Even when we played THEM, I thought the police was more laid back than everywhere else.

Outside the UK I have often seen police in full riot gear with machine guns and I have been body searched regularly (which I think is much worse than bag searched). In Belgium for example, for a lot of away games, you need to get on an official supporters bus and be escorted by the police to the stadium and back (like cattle) and you are not allowed access outside to the stadium. In the UK you can choose how to get to away games.

Hooliganism in the UK is at its lowest now, so the police must be doing something right.

I do not like heavy policing, but I want to feel safe as well and I do not want people bringing weapons in the stadium.

I have not been to games in europe for a good few years but in my 20 + years following Celtic , Scotland and other teams ( go for the party with mates) i have never been searched

you could make a weapon with a sock and a handful of coins so how can you possibly stop people BEFORE they have committed any crime.

Thanks again for posting about the regulations ......... but i would like to point out to others that regulations cannot nullify your fundamental human rights.

If our fans do not want to hurt OUR club then perhaps an issue could be made using the regulations at away grounds... choose a few away matches to boycott if ground regulations try to enforce searches without due cause. Just choose the clubs which give our support the most hassle and inform them if our support are arbitrarily searched at the first away game then there will be a boycott at the second game.. and backing from the club on the issue would also be nice

never paid much attention to conditions attached when purchasing tickets and finding it hard to believe the polis can confiscate your brolly in Scotland.... that really is taking the * :56:

This is a very good point, I hadn't thought of that. Nonetheless (and regardless of the legal position which you have convinced me is completely airtight), I still find it worrying that people find this acceptable. I think even the authorities know when it is really necessary and when it's just about control. Take airports. The sad fact is that this kind of security is very necessary. They don't * about. The security personnel are highly trained and professional. Everyone goes through these procedures, not just the people they decide to check at whim and the corporate customers don't get to avoid the whole disagreeable business. It's a totally different animal (if you doubt this, try smuggling a firecracker onto a plane and see what happens!). So yes, Celtic or the SPL are legally well within their rights to insist on the right to deny you access if you refuse to be searched, but I find the whole thing worrying anyway.

This is a very good point and I think Sean Daleer said something similar with regard to trivialising what the GB have had to put up with. I apologise if that's how it came across, that wasn't my intention. Of course this is very minor compared to real police harassment. It's just that I see this as part of the same pattern which includes serious police harassment and as I said, I find it worrying how acceptable people apparently think it is.

ENTRY TO THE STADIUM SHALL BE DEEMED TO CONSTITUTE UNQUALIFIED ACCEPTANCE OF ALL THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS.

    7. With the exception of authorised media representatives holding accreditation issued by the Club/event organiser, the taking of photographs or filming by any means inside the Stadium is prohibited.

Looks like they can take your camera phone if they want to ......

The only way i can see around such an Unqualified Acceptance is to pay by cheque and to write your own disclaimer on the back of the cheque. When the cheque is cashed then you will have a written agreement that you have a disclaimer. Most businesses will cash cheques without bothering to read the back.

What happened to innocent until proved guilty ?

In all the rules and regs i see on CFC site it is pretty clear that they cannot search you unless you SUBMIT. You can give away your rights but they cannot be taken from you. So let's be clear here ... it is CLUB POLICY which allows the searches and refusal of entry....

Sad state of affairs, and it wont change even if independence gets voted through.. the general public have a great opportunity to insist upon a constitution for Scotland and correct all that is wrong with government.. BUT THEY WONT. Most people will accept the same * from whoever is in government.

I gave CFC a very large chunk of my money over 25 years... but i don't like the direction football and its regulating bodies are going. I would rather retain my fundamental human rights and keep my cash in my pocket

maybe all our non attending season ticket holders are determined to keep their human rights intact :50:

    Green Brigade tifo statement

For Sunday's Cup final the Green Brigade have set up a display which requires the participation of the Celtic support. This has been another time consuming effort which will hopefully be worth it come kick off time on Sunday.Like all previous displays we ask that fans please wait until the teams start to emerge from the tunnel before using their materials and not before then. The objective of the Tifo is for it to be in full flight when the players are walking out of the tunnel, hopefully giving them some extra inspiration like a few players commented on after the Barcelona Tifo last November.Last season unfortunately at the league cup final the Tifo went too early and it was over and done with by the time the players came out. We need to avoid this at all cost.Certain seats will have instructions on them along with different materials. These seats are crucial to the success of the Tifo. Please follow the instructions and play your part on the day. There will also be materials that may be held aloft etc. This will only be for a few minutes and will not be on show when the teams kick off so we thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.Unfortunately due to a few issues going on just now we will not have a section as such at the game. Hopefully the full support plays their part and stands and sings for 90minutes and this urges the Bhoys on to a great double for the season. Please pass this post around the Celtic forums and twitter, facebook etc.UTLRGREEN BRIGADE

Great stuff, can't wait to see it.

As always big props to the GB for taking the time and effort to make these things happen.

I dread to think what it would be like without them these days.

Well done to the GB. These displays leave a great impression on the watching public and are a credit to them and the club.
