Villa ace Petrov in Bulgaria quit shock

Bulgarian ace Stilian Petrov is set to devote his career to Aston Villa after a shock report today that he intends to announce his international retirement. Local Radio Gong has revealed Petrov stood up in front of his Bulgarian teammates after last night's match against Luxembourg and announced he was retiring from international football.
Just 27, Petrov intends to hold a media conference on Saturday to make official his decision.
The midfielder only moved to Villa in August from Celtic and he has confirmed to Radio Gong his decision to retire from the national team.

 

Just about to mention that myself ,bit of a joke really ,he's only 27

He must not ,in his eyes , want to lower himself now

 

Aston Villa midfielder Stilian Petrov has confirmed he is to quit international football.

The Bulgaria captain announced the decision just hours after helping his country to a 1-0 win over Luxembourg in qualifying for Euro 2008.

Petrov, a summer arrival at Villa Park from Celtic, has played 66 times for his country, scoring seven goals.

He has now called time on his international career, although he refused to reveal the reasons behind the decision.

"It's my final decision but I want to be correct to all media and I will explain my decision on Saturday," Petrov told Bulgarian Radio Gong.

The 27-year-old's decision to quit has come as a surprise to Bulgaria Football Union officials, with vice-president Lordan Lechkov already speculating as to Petrov's reasons.

"I think it's an emotional decision," Lechkov told Gong. "But I'll have to talk to BFU's president Borislav Mihailov and coach Hristo Stoichkov before making any further comments."

My personal opinion is that Stilian finally showed the bad opinion all the team has about Stoichkov as a coach ... All this is because the players want someone who really understands something of football and can be a coach ... Stoichkov was a great footballer but as a trainer is pure * ...

Sulky Stan strikes again. He clearly has a higher opinion of himself than everyone else.

Maybe he thinks he's too good for Bulgaria at the moment

Not so surprisingly but the majority of bulgarian fans are supporting Stan than Stoichkov in this situation .... I respect Stan's decision too ... He was the only one now who had the gutts to stand up and say loud that Stoichkov is no coach at all and tehre's somethiong really wrong in teh team !
I dream the day Stoichkov will leave our NT ... Loved him as a player , but just can't stand him anymore as a coach ...

Don't make conclusions about Stan from your point of view ...

when 95% of the supporters here back up Stilian in his decision and only 5% are behind Stoichkov even though all of us really respected him as a * when he was still playing you can easily see where the problem is .

I am sure Stilian will be back as soon as Stoichkov is sacked , no matter what the new coach will be ... The problem is that nobody in teh football union has the gutts or maybe doesn't have teh interest to sack Stoichkov , and he is also so stupid and vulgar that won't leave by himlsef too ...

I hope it will happen soon though as i said before , Stoichkov has to go to elementary and learn some things about coaching before getting the job even at some 3rd devision team ...

We've had enough of his * decisions for 2 years ... He just has to go !

Stan haven't done something taht hasn't been done before by respected and great players ...

And i hope it works out for your team but Petrov no longer plays for us and i still remember his sulky face when we got the trophy so i'm not gonna be defending him anytime soon

 

* , he was the guy who wanted stan to leave us 4 year ago and to join barca

 

Its the same even though with several differences ...

For difference to Keane who left days before an important event such as teh world cup , Stan left teh team after our autumn matches at 2nd place in our group and with a 6 months time till the first offical game next year. And I am also sure no matter how bad McCarty was he was far too better coach than Stoichkov is now ...

 

To be fair Keano was sent home from World Cup by McCarthy he didn't walk
