funny how everyone who has seen him play wants him at celtic and the ones who dont have a clue about him are skeptical, if you dont know about the guy why bother posting.

then we should get rid of the dead weight, whats wrong with briging a good player into your side? ya we have a lot of midfielders, but im dead sure a few will leave us in jan, and if it creates more competition for spots its never a bad thing

Although he looks a good player I think the transfer fee would be the sticking point in any deal as he is Toronto's best player and they would probably be looking for a good few bucks for him but at 32 are Celtic really going to be willing to pay more than a couple of hundred grand at most for him which I don't think Toronto would find acceptable

I would be happy with this......i do agree we need to shift some players though.....the size of our squad is starting to worry me with wages and stuff......but if someone like him comes at a short ebough price and wage it could be good for both parties!

Having lived in both countries and watched both leagues week in week out I can tell you they're pretty similar in quality. You're argument that the players that have come out of the league can't cut it in Europe doesn't really stand up because how's the SPL's all-time leading goal-scorer doing in England? The simple fact of the matter is that both leagues are pretty pish and they both churn out the occasional good player (Aiden McGeady, Clint Dempsey) and the occasional dud. Can't judge the player by the league alone. If you did then we shouldn't be playing Izzaguire, Ki, Paddy, or Hooper (arguably).
I can tell you honestly, 4 years ago I'd have stuck de Rosario in for Brown, Ledley, Maloney, Forrest or Stokes (in their current form) without hesitation. That's based on seeing him play regularly for club and country.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they have to deal with the league itself, not sure how much TFC would have a say in it (I may be wrong in this). The league would probably like to get some money for an aging veteran and raise the profile of it's product.

I agree he aint the youngest but reckon he would be worth the gamble, a few experienced older heads would help the younger lads.

The manky mob are just jealous given the fact they can't sign anyone, how can they comment on Dwayne & Freddie's age though given how old Weir is.

Seriously hope Lenny is in for a recognised centre half and striker though, blantantly obvious we are lacking in these positions, big time, come on Lenny, enough of the midfielder signings.

Yeah the money does go to the league but as we have seen when we tried to sign Shalrie Joseph a couple of times the MLS are not pushovers when it comes to negotiations.

There's a lot of nonsense going on in this thread. DeRo would be our best player. He plays for another national team and on my least favorite MLS team so it's not like I have some bias for him. Also, he's a strict vegan, fitness freak, and gym rat. Last year was statistically his best year ever playing on a * team on artificial turf in a low scoring year. He scored a goal every two games from midfield. I'd much, much, much rather have him than Ljungberg, who hasn't taken as much care of his body and who has kind of sucked over the last year in MLS. DeRo also offers a lot of leadership ability, is gritty for his position, and wouldn't be bothered by the cold at all.

Seriously DeRo? I'm from Toronto and Scarborough is not THAT bad.. It isn't the greatest area but not as bad as this article makes it sound.. Nevertheless I really hope Celtic sign DeRo he's too good for TFC and would really help Celtic win back the SPL!

Saying in the sun he would cost around 1.25 mill seems a lot for a player at 32, and i know its not the sun just saying .

Is that not what we have been doing and look at the team now, the team needs experience and De Rosario will bring it, same as Lungberg.

You think we shouldnt spent £1.25m on a player we cant sell on? Its hardly a lot of money for an experienced talented football who has 2 years left on his contract. If he was in the championship he would cost 3 times that!

He was never gonna come here for free so dont know why you thought we would be getting him for nothing. We need experience and we need someone with a spark of creativity who will also work hard for the team - and is also a leader!

All that for 1.25m - Take him!
