i find it incredible that with dermot desmonds credentials in the business world he cant entice a better company than tennents to sponsor our wares.

If Barca can no longer afford to have a charity sponsor on their shirt then we certainly can't.

As for the idea about moving away from a joint OF sponsor that's never going to happen, otherwise half of Glasgow won't buy the company's product.

    I disagree.

(For one thing Barca are keeping the Unicef logo, and the Qatar Foundation is itself a non-profit educational trust, but that's another matter...)

    1) Barca are in a * of a lot more debt than we are
    2) Their shirt deal is a worth a * of a lot more than ours

1.5 million a year is * all, let's face it.
We should display an anti-bigotry sponsor, like FARE or something of that kind.

    1) It would be in keeping with the club's charitable origins
    2) It would set us apart from the crowd
    3) It would wind up the huns no end

SCIAF - Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund.

It's a great charitable cause, Catholic roots and charity play a massive part in our identity and the huns would be spewing.

Not a snowballs hope in * of us dropping a steady income of £4.5m - think people might underestimate how crucial every penny of income stream is - especially given our domestic league.

We have ambition to be a top 16 European team on a regular basis, in fact not achieving this is seen as a failure. Yet financially our commercial revenue (the area we need to be taking most advantage) wouldn't even make the top 25-30 in the World and that's without even thinking about TV income (in which I'm sure we wouldn't even make top 50)

In other words, when Europe is taken away from us we're scraping the pennies together to be able to compete again. Even Barca can't really afford not to sell shirt sponsorship, as IrishBhoy pointed out.

I must say I was very disappointed when we signed another joint sponsorship deal. I guess we must not have been able to find any go it alone deal that would have brought in more money. I just thought with the positive world wide global appeal of Celtic we would be able to find some multi national company that would pay us more money then a joint sponsorship. Sadly that must not have been the case. Hopefully when the Tennents deal is up we can find some more lucrative deal that would allow us to ditch a joint sponsorship deal with the huns. We have managed to do it with our uniform deal so why not the sponsorship as well.

surely some of the directors must be able to use their business connections to set up a deal with an international company to sponsor?

Make our sponsor colgate or head and shoulders or something, then there would be no affect on the products sales

What about getting Dove soap on the front of our shirts, that would'nt affect their sales. :icon_mrgreen:

more money to be made in a joint deal ! scotland being scotland if one team was to get a sponsorship deal then the other side boycotts it ! no decent company will sponsor you if it means people will boycott the product! makes sence to do the joint deal .

    Was McEwans, not Tennants.

No Company will ever sponsor only one half of the old firm again...it would lose them too much money. Half of a city would boycott, and half wouldnt.

No company would want to see that happen
