    Marc Wilson isn't a centre-back, he's a midfielder. Maybe you mean Clark.

Duff and McGeady should both play, if anyone should drop out it's Lawrence. Although if I had to choose I'd have McGeady over Duff.

Duff's past it I reckon. Rather Hunt started.

This would be my ideal lineup when everyone is fit.

    Given
    Foley
    Dunne
    O'Shea
    Ward
    Coleman
    Meyler
    A.Reid
    Duff
    Doyle
    Keane

And Duff may be past it but he is for sure better than Hunt.

Here's the squad for the Wales game:

FULL SQUAD: Shay Given, Keiren Westwood, John O’Shea, Ciaran Clark, Seamus Coleman, Richard Dunne, Sean St. Ledger, Kevin Foley, Kevin Kilbane, Stephen Kelly, Darren O’Dea, Paul McShane, Marc Wilson, Darron Gibson, Glenn Whelan, Paul Green, Liam Lawrence, Stephen Hunt, Aiden McGeady, Keith Treacy, Damien Duff, Keith Fahey, Robbie Keane, Jonathan Walters, Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, Andy Keogh, Leon Best, Anthony Stokes.

Rubbish squad. At least Stokes is in it. But why the * is Kilbane in it? A man in League 1, ahead of a guy who's scoring against Liverpool in the EPL (Ward). Ridiculous. Kelly never plays for Fulham and yet he's picked ahead of Ward too. O'Dea: *. McShane: *. Bruce at Leeds is a really good player and yet he's below these monkeys in the pecking order?

No Delap or Andy Reid. What a surprise. Paul Green and Glenn Whelan included. What a surprise. Keogh is a waste of a squad space, ffs he's 5th choice striker at Cardiff.

I'm almost beyond caring, Trappatoni is awful, especially in squad selection. He hasn't done well in any of his recent jobs, and I appreciate how he rebuilt the squad after Staunton, but we are too good for his mind-numbingly boring long-ball football. The Russia match was one of the worst performances I've ever seen at international level. No flair or creativity at all.

    * sake...

Even though it's a friendly I'd like to see a full strong lineup so I'd play:

    Given
    Kelly Dunne Clark Foley
    O'Shea
    McGeady Gibson Wilson Duff
    Keane

I'd have Coleman ahead of Kelly and Doyle ahead of Keane.

Trap won't pick a line-up anything like that. He'll never deviate from 4-4-2. Whelan and probably Green will start. Clark and Foley probably won't. Even Kilbane has a good chance of playing. :31:

I still don't understand why Whelan plays at Stoke less than Wilson and Delap, but is always picked ahead of them for Ireland. Nothing player.

Its heartbreaking to see soo many young irish players rejected for the likes of kilbane, green and mcshane etc. No doubt kilbane will start against wales and will cost us a goal or two, and coleman will be lucky to see 10 minutes. As for McShane, remember the last time we played wales, we were winning 2-1 at cardiff and on the last minute wee ginger pubes paul decides to give away a penalty at the last minute to let wales equalise. On the brightside at least there is some new faces again but i doubt they will get game time. I hate trappatoni with a passion.

Opinion | Robbie needs to sit down with his ego

This article sums Keane up perfectly at the moment. He should get his head out of his * and move to a mid-to-low EPL club. Otherwise he doesn't deserve to play for Ireland. I'll never forget all the goals he's scored for us, but Long, Stokes and Doyle are better choices the way things are IMO.

Conor Wickham is eligible for Ireland, he should have been called up or at least asked if he wanted to be.

    Klbane should retire.

Kilbane should have retired two years ago, especially when he partially cost us our place in the world cup with two big errors.

Republic of Ireland v Wales at the Aviva Stadium in the Carling Nations Cup (7.45pm):

Ireland: Shay Given, John O'Shea, Sean St Ledger, Richard Dunne, Ciaran Clark, Seamus Coleman, Glenn Whelan, Paul Green or Darron Gibson, Damien Duff, Jonathan Walters, Kevin Doyle.

Wales: Wayne Hennessey, Neal Eardley, James Collins, Danny Collins, Sam Ricketts, David Vaughan, Andrew Crofts, Andy King, Simon Church, Robert Earnshaw, Hal Robson-Kanu

Teams for game tonight. Trap hasn't said yet whether it'll be Green or Gibson who plays. If it's Green then I will be disappointed but not surprised. He shouldn't even be in the squad. * knows why Whelan is playing ahead of Wilson.

green and whelan is a * awful pairing.
Im trying not to see this game as a glorified friendly, hard though.

Would be better if every team didnt have so many withdrawals.
