Im a fan of WGS, and his acheivments in the Champions League are untouchable. However, in what way is appointing a man who is so passionate about the club, and cares so much, worse than appointing the manager of Southampton? having a more expensive squad means nothing to me. i dont care what rangers do. all im concerned about is our squad. i dont think the signings he has made are good enough, i dont think his tactics and team selection are good enough, i dont think his subs are good enough, i dont think he has it in the locker to change a game when something drastic needs to be done, i dont think our backroom team is good enough. what rangers do or who they have playing for them means nothing to me. ill judge our manager on what i see infront of me most weekends. you also ask "in what way is appointing a man who is so passionate about the club, and cares so much, worse than appointing the manager of Southampton?" ill tell you the answer to that in 1 word "experience" !!

 

I think you are right Dazza. More on here are beginning to agree with you, especially since the Ranger's defeat we have been on a downwards trajectory winning only four points out of a possible twelve. If that is not a slide, then I don't know what it is.I notice your opinions are usually bang on the money and well thought out, with constructive criticism where it is needed, and praise when it is deserved, so I have no problems with your posts, on the contrary I look forward to them. If things were going well for us then you, I and others would not be so worried about our slump in form, and concerned about Lennon's bewildering tactics, zonal marking, overtly offensive set ups and bizarre substitutions and formations.Then there is the seperate issue that quite a few of Lennon's summer signings have been failures already.It all has a terrible Mowbray feel about it all.

 

forster has done at best ok. another one that seems to get away with limited criticism. take saturdays goal for instance. header from inside the 6 yrd box. where was he??

izzaguirre looks to be a decent player for the money but hes no world beater. ok going forward but one paced and not the greatest defender i would say but yeah value for money he seems a good player.

hooper inside the box is a goal machine. hooper outside the box is a man down but he is bought to score goals so he has done that so he has to be put down as a success.

stokes is the greediest player iv ever seen and now somehow seems to think he is some sort of zidane type player! he isnt good enough for us. yes he will score a few goals but he is so wastefull in possession and for the 270 shots he has for us so far his goals ratio isnt good if you take his pks away.

so after 11 signings these are the best you can come up with?? think it proves how poor his signings have been.

 

Our directors continue to spin us various yarns, look at the stadium now we can't fill it unless we're playing the Huns, we never get our 60,000 fan base back unless Dermot Desmond goes or injects serious money into this team. you having a laugh i started this thread with the belief that we are a few key players short just now most notable a quality centre half.your slating players left right and centre the ones who have did really well for us.its the likes of samaras &crossas and loovens who we should get rid of too help toward getting those few key players that will win us the treble.ps in lennon i trust

 

lennon has celtic in his heart . but,the only thing i dont like is the way he say,s that we should take our opportunites up front when hooper,s scoring in every game. the defence is letting us down badly. rogne is the best c/b we have , maj is ok, but slow and has been beaten terribly in the air. so we need a defender. lennon,s been unlucky with keyal,paddy is a luxury we cant afford.

 

good point buddy folk like that are just sitting on the wage bill with nothing constructive to add to the team. you need to clear folk out like that right away.

 

forster is a 3rd choice keeper who is going back to newcastle therefor we still need a keeper.
mulgrew is the worst left back i think i have ever seen and was given a 3yr deal?????????????
cha is a terrible player who has plenty of pace but no idea how to use it and defensivly is poor.
majstorovic is a poor big lump of a defender.
kayal looked decent but got found out in utrecht and lennon dropped him before he got injured.
juarez cant get a game and will be lucky to make the squad soon.
murphy is another waste of money.
stokes has been in and out of the team and been subbed early in his last few games and isnt good enough to play for us.

ledley has done ok for us and is a player i think will do well for us.
hooper you cant argue with his goals and inside that box he seems to have the nack of being in the right place at the right time.
izzy looks good value for money. not a world beater like most make him out to be but definetly a good buy at £600k.

Dazza you are slating almost every player in the team and saying they are not good enough signings.

How can you even say Izzaguire is only a decent signing?? What games do you watch? He has had one poor game IMO and that was against Hearts and Templeton, who to be fair is ripping apart most full backs in the SPL.

Hooper - No use to us outside the box ???!!! Have you not seen how good his link up play outside the box is? Have you not seen him pick up the ball and run at defenders.

Stokes to an extent I can agree with as he can be greedy but the guy has assisted in a lot of goals as well as score a barrel load already, what are you expecting exactly??

Majstorovic is not a poor player, I have lost count of how many times he has had to save our arses when loovens was nowhere to be seen! If he had somebody like bougherra beside him I dont think we would be losing any goals at all. This is summed up by how well he does for Sweden with a good solid center back beside him

Mulgrew a waste of money yes. Juarez will be lucky to get into the team again, yes.

Muprhy a waste of money?? No, He can be very useful as shown in a difficult game at st mirren where IMO he changed the game.

Back to the point of this thread.

We need a center back for Maj to work with. Have Rogne as back up.
Then I would look to buy connor sammon or Erimenko from Kilmarnock and even maybe try to get templeton before he ends up signing for a championship side or wigan and costing a fortune
Then find the next Boruc

 

I hope we do spend in January, i also hope its not on ridiculous amounts of players which are not needed, a goal keeper, a quality CB and a target man and we would be fine.

 

hooper outside the box is a man down! has only scored about 3 headers in his career also which is a worrying aspect to his game. ball breaks down at him too often also. same with stokes, 99% of the time he gets the ball its a world cup willie ball or a shot. very wastefull in posession!
izzy has had 1 great game away to st johnstone. he looks decent but defensivly he is another that seems to be caught out of position and he looks one paced so yes id say he has just been decent.
maj is a poor player in my opinion. if we had a bougherra to play alongside any of our centre halfs it would improve them greatly but for me maj makes just as many if not more mistakes than the rest of them but somehow seems to get away with it.

sammon i dont rate too highly and think he is just having a purple patch at the minute. havnt seen much of erimenko but was very impressed with him on what i saw of the game against rangers. templeton looks impressive so far but i think they would be looking for 2 -3 million which is too much for someone who is untried at this level. yeah the next boruc has to be found quickly !! id say 2 centre halfs and a right back defo needed, another striker as murphy just aint good enough and maybe a right mid as forrest seems very injury prone and still to show us a run of games and good form.

 

Hoopers link up play is the best I have seen since Larsson. DOnt know how you can say moves break down when they get to him. Think you are mixing him up with Samaras.

AS for Izzy. 1 goal and 2 assists aint bad for a guy who has come from honduras to play left back and until the hearts game NO winger was getting by him.

Sammon is a presence up front, a bit like hartson and he knows how to put his chances away. He gave rangers a torrid time as did erimenko. We need players like that in our team
