he plays week in week out for villa he would not come to celtic, but curtis davis would be good he is not getting a game at villa and he is big strong and quicker than any other cb at parkhead

 

yeah totally agree bout curtis davies.just giving collins as the type of guy we should be looking at .5 million centre half on a big salary is what will get you in champs league not championship defenders

nah not at all, not in the long run the guy is getting on a bit and would be a waste of money, we as a club need to get players in early 20's or mid 20's and try and get a good re-sale value for them aswell

I have to say our best financials happened when the board went out and signed 3 quality players Hartson Sutton and Lennon and that propelled years of success and our financial state got better year by year. For the past few years we have tried to do it on the cheap and our financial state is gradually getting worse. How Many cheap center backs are we going to sign before we realise that we should just spend 4-5 mill on the one we need.

thats not true!! our wage bill crippled us during that spell. we spent big in oniells 1st couple of seasons but didnt spend too much after that as our wage bill was way more than we could afford. we ended up going £30m in debt during that spell despite making the champions lg most seasons and uefa cup final.

lennon signed 11 players in the summer. how can it be that we still need 4, 5 or 6 players in january?? do we really want to let him waste more money in january?? didnt he learn from mowbrays mistakes?? or from strachans?? we have nearly a 30 strong 1st team squad. we dont need anywhere near that amount of players

 

I would actually say we need 2 c/bs in january as * help us if maj got injured and we would be left with loovens,hoiveld to partner rogne who still has an awful lot to learn positioning wise imo.

 

they spent 600k on defence a total disgrace and it shows up badly nearly ever game,if this club wants to move forward and start getting the fans back and more income coming in then stop trying to do it on the cheap and start buying quality in and then fans will come back.

 

if there is a budget of say 6m to spend, a few get sold bringing in say 4m,

the 10m should be spent on 1) a quality CB 2) a winger with pace who can cross 3) a striker BETTER than what we have (few and far between, as they cost big money) 4) a keeper

a striker and keeper may be brought in on loan until the end of the season until we can determine if we can then afford the transfer fee.

The point is With a limited budget 2 quality players and 2 quality loanees are better than 4 average players on long contract - FACT!

Same here. I don't think he's looked good at all so far this season.

 

If we don't spend money on a good CB in January then the board should be hunted out of Parkhead, although arguably that should have happened long ago. That's for another day though.

 

About spending money experience with this present board tells me it aint going to happen properly, ie money does get spent not much mind you, my point is we dont get to sign stars, although once we did but he was on loan Robbie Keane.
Also about Majstorovic as I have said and the Dundee United game once again solidifies my opinion of him, hes no bad but nothing startling!

Sell crosas, i like him but i dont think he will ever get a game.
Sell Sammy, a striker that doesnt score goals is no use, lennon would rather play him wide than through the middle and i thinks its time he moves on.
Sell loovens, has been with us a while and i dont think he is going to be 1st team material.
Sell McCourt, fans love him but what use is a player that can only play for 20 mins? His dribbling skills are awesome but he wont ever be a starter for us, squad player and no more. At the very least we could loan him out down the divisions, could give him a chance to play 1st team football, if he cant do it over the 6 months or so then i think that is him done with us.

With the money from these sales, if we only make one signing, it has to be a quick strong cb with experience! The huns keep finding good cbs, why cant we? If there is money left over i would like to see a pacey winger and a striker to replace Sammy. The team is overall quite good, but we need to add a strong backbone to the team with experience and hopefully Lennon can install a fighting spirit.

Oh and i never mentioned anything about siging 6 players in Jan, My point is to sign one good experienced cb that we could get 4-5 years service as we did with sutton lennon hartson rather than signing poor players that accumilativly will cost more.
