That's what I was trying to say :84:

I wouldn't say that. Liverpool and Man Utd are a few shoesizes bigger.

If the SPL had the same money flowing through it as any of the EPL clubs every season in terms of domestic TV revenue, Prizemoney, Celtic would pass out Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal within 3 season in terms of squad quality. We are on par with Liverpool and Man Utd, we are a bigger club than Arsenal

You dont know this for a fact!

IMHO you wouldnt be level with man uth and liverpool if you had the same money, if you went to the EPL i reckon celtic would finish mid table everyseason and not make much of an impact.. remember this is my opinion dont all jump on my back :50:

Celtic with a €45M minimum increase in revenue every season could bring in the same quality of players as Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal.

If we were put into the EPL, we'd have to increase the capacity to 80,000 straight away to deal with the demand to see matches. thats about €1M extra per match.

With the huge financial increases we would catch up with them very quickly, its the nearest thing to a fact

i dont think Celtic would be able to attract players like arsenal and manchester utd can.

80,000 - i doubt that would happen either. 60,000 is enough for your support and i seriously doubt you would fill it for games against the likes of Reading,Wigan etc etc.

only when Man Utd and co come to down.

I see our jealous hun freind is at it again. There is no question if we had the same tv money coming in as the EPL we would quickly be competing for a top 6 spot in the EPL. Without it our present team is probably already a mid table team. With it we would easily be able to attract top class players who would love to play for a great club with such a huge support and that can pay the big wages. This would allow us to put on the top tier on the south stand which would increase our stadium to about 75,000 and with a few years and all the increased revenue we would be right up there challenging for the title. On top of that due to Celtic's global and positive appeal if we were getting the world exposure playing in the EPL gives you that would allow us I think to compete commercially with Man U. If Celtic ever get into the EPL we would have the potential to compete on the world stage on a par with anybody once we settled in.

Celtic would be adviced to go south, for more reasons than Dempsey states, the time has come, just my opinion! :86:

Financially better off, fans would get to see better standard of football every week but Champions League night would be harder to come by. Trophies would be harder to find. Some of the traditions will become extinct aswell.

The thing is, no english clubs wants us down there, they'd have the vote to get us in and they'll stop us DEAD.

    Why?

With the potential that Celtic and Rangers have by getting into a financially better league, we'd probably want to be put straight into the EPL. All the smaller clubs are thinking straight away, "They wont get relegated, our odds of staying up just got longer", "They'll probably get 2 european spots, our chances or getting in there are much slimmer". We be taking a nice slice of the bonuses of the league.

Every division will be thinking like that so, we'll never get down there because the clubs will be asked to vote and they the majority will say no way

Are you just taking the * now?? If we can pull crowds of 60,000 at home games when we're playing the mighty St Mirren then how can you say we wouldnt fill our stadium against the likes of reading and Wigan? We have a waiting list for season tickets that will never be fulfilled and you dont think we would get 80,000? Get a grip m8 and as for pulling power where players are concerned surley a team that can pull players of the ilk of Sutton, Hartson, Gravesen and Hesselink to name but a few when we are playing against the smaller spl clubs would have NO problem pulling players if we were playing in the epl week in week out against chelsea, man u, arsenal and liverpool. I know that there are a lot of Celtic fans who think we are the biggest club in the world but even though we are not i have NO doubt at all that we would not only do well down south but would flourish and prosper to a level we can only strive for at the moment.:50:

Re: Bellamy-good player but total *. Money grabbing wee dwarf fucknut * wankstain. That said, I think Bellamy did us one big favour: I think Maloney learned a helluva lot from watching him and this had a lot to do with the new Shaun we saw last season. Shaun had an entirely new style when he came back that reminded me of Bellamy-directness, cutting edge, killer pace, trickery, goalscoring powerful shot. Even his position last season was like a deeper version of Bellamys 'inside left' role drifting from left to centre. Maloney had all the attributes of a good player before but did not have the killer edge until last season. When I watched Shaun last season, I immediately recognised Maloney had learned from Bellamy. Did anyone else think that?

I am worried about Magic though. I hope its temporary because he is our cleverest striker, but you get young 30 year olds and old 30 year olds i.e. you can have the body of 25 year old or a 35 year old when you are 30 depending on several factors. I hope I am wrong because if he is the latter then he may just be going over the hill. It superficially looks like that. Hope it is just world cup burn out in which case I would give him a couple of weeks off (on call) but something is definitely not right about his fitness and drive.

You know you could well be right about World Cup burnout. You see that a lot with players who spend the summer away training and then playing in the Wolrd Cup Finals. They end up not getting a real break before the new season comes along and end up having a flat year. I would think it may be in Zurawski's and Celtic's best interest to leave him out for a few weeks and give him a break. After all Beattie is back and ready to have a go.

if thats the case im sure gordon'll sort him out. he knows a thing or two about playing on at a high level at the latter stages of his career.... am sure he was playing in the premiership with leeds when he was touching 40, it probably will just depend on how much magic wants it

    MILK WAS A BAD CHOICE..

Yep! I posted something to this effect a while back, there was an article in GQ or maybe Esquire magazine a few years back that summised that Celtic would surpass Man Utd as the worlds biggest club within 5 years if they gained entry to the EPL.

Whether this is still entirely relevant- as Man Utd have now got a foothold on the important SE Asian market and we are only in there by the skin of our teeth- is up for debate (if only Du Wei had been good!!). In any case, Real Madrid this year have supplanted Man Utd in terms of revenue generated as the worlds biggest club.

Ps. I was doing a few searches on existing posts before considering starting a new one re: increasing capacity when I came across this thread.. incase people are wondering why I have resurrected it!

    hail, hail :celt_2:
