and they do have a big fanbase - everyhome game is a capacity croud.

Football is not based on fanbase but if it was i'm sure celtic would win everything.

Celtic are a good side, and a big club but thats all nothing outstanding.

 

for me the biggest clubs are those with tradition, history and great fans...

Not even every homegame is sold out as far as I know. How about their numbers travelling to away games? Remember, success brings tons of glory hunters, Celtic included of course. Chelsea are a big club, because they are one of the richest clubs.

You are right, football is based on cash nowadays. I doubt there will ever be a "big" scottish club, if we say big is based on cash.

My Mate is a chelsea season ticket holder (Glory hunter) travells everywhere with them and he says that stanford bridge is capasity everyweek mostly.

For me football IS based on success and not 'tradition' and chelsea have alot of success as do barca, Milan etc Celtic have aswell.. but their not on par with the clubs i just mentioned...

Celtic are a club with great tradition and that but their not a Huge club as one guy mentioned.

There staduim is small and only get about 35,000 a week. They have no tradition of success. Talk to foreigners, the biggest club in England is Man Utd.

Of course they have "real" supporters as well. But mostly is not enough in my own personal opinion. Just check out Man Utd's average attendance.

I agree with you. No SPL, Swiss/Austrian/Slovakian etc club will ever become one of the top dogs moneywise. But some of these clubs got a far bigger soul and tradition than other mercenaries clubs (I prefer that to be honest).

I'm a foreigner to almost everybody on this forum and when I think of england I think of Manchester United and Liverpool. Both won the champs league more or less recently. Big attendance all the time, rich as well.

Chelsea were * until Abra came and put his money up their *. Based on the amount they have spent over the years, they only won the premier league twice. No FA cup or european cup. Which is not enough for a team like that.

I want to add I don't reckon the english prem is the best league, I suppose the spanish primera division is on the top. based on CL and UEFA CUP victories

 

Fair play to you, i agree with you on most things.

Celtic have an amazing tradition i do agree but for me that counts for nothing in football, its all about the cash now-a-days and chelsea have it all. thats why i see chelsea as a great club. they have the cash to do what they want.

No they havent won the CL yet but imho thats down to Moriniho. if they dont win it this year, he'll get the sack i think.

No1 can honestly come out and say that Celtic are on level with Liverpool and Man Utd? what i'm trying to say is that your a Good club. nothing more nothing less

 

where would chelsea be right now without abramovich's money? probably sitting mid-table and hoping for a good cup run. the fact that he came in with all that cash does NOT make them a GREAT CLUB it just means they've got more money than most clubs. Surely the definition of a Great Club is not one who has the most money but one who has had a lot of success over a long period of time and who also have an enviable history.
The fact that chelsea have none of these says to me that they are not a great club. Yes they have a wealth of stars and so therefore have a great TEAM but they are not by any stretch of the imagination a great CLUB. Great teams disperse but a Great Club is a constant.

 

Chelsea are still on a level above you through Quality and sucess. they are a better club! by a mile - no matter who's money has came in

 

A better club by a mile.What makes a better club cos who has the best ground,who has more fans attend their matches.And are you serious when you say the it doesn't matter about the money.?Cos if you are you need a reality check what did they win before Rich Roman came along??
