    MILK WAS A BAD CHOICE..
This has the potential to become very messy.

Talk of banning people? On what grounds? Quite frankly the poppy on a Celtic shirt was a red rag to a bull and an entirely predictable sequence of events has transpired. What were they thinking?

The idiots at the top being raped by Rupert Murdoch and the rest of the cabal that thought they could ride roughshod over other peoples sensibilities are to blame. Let's all remember, those who haven't been slowly lobotomised over the years, that the ethos of Celtic, if one was to attempt to quantify it, is almost diametrically opposed to such things. How or why did they push this forward? Madness. Surely they have not become that much out of touch with the club, or did they think they had enough sheep cloned already to swamp the long standing ethos?

Notwithstanding the overzealousness and bad spelling of the GB, he fault lies fairly and squarely with multimillionaires telling us for years what to say and not to say, sing and not to sing, bring and not to bring then allowing themselves to be maneuvered into having a Celtic shirt with a poppy on it! :39:

It is, to many, if not most, Celtic people, offensive to varying degrees. I myself am not offended by the actual symbol, or people wearing it, but am offended by the propaganda and mild coercion that now accompanies the symbol at this time of year. How dare they bring that to Celtic Park and then play dumb when the inevitable arose.

For the majority of Celtic supporters and, many left leaning or liberal non Celtic supporters that symbol is now overtly political, thus the hypocricy is simply mind blowing. At source, it is they who have brought this on and we should be ashamed of their stupidity and double standards.

As I said, It is patently obvious that to try and ban people is asking for trouble. There isn't an argument for them that can't be returned in kind on this issue.

100% agree with you, they have gone over the top in my eyes with this, to be fair they have now made celtic fans look bad, just what i think and alot of other people also

but they have there own say and it's a free world and all that but they could have done it better

i would just love the fans to stick to cheering on the team and not getting a bad name for thier political views

some fans will agree and some will not but am like some people am embarrassed about it, just makes us look them animals in govan. but this is just my view

I definitely don't agree with it. It's brought shame on the club and i totally understand people's disgust to the banners. Seen it mentioned around the internet today and we are seen as worse than the huns now. At least we can honestly say it's a small minority but still it's shameful. I have liked some of the gb's banners in the past but they have over stepped the mark this time.

It was totally disrespectful to war veterans. They can protest and unfurl as many banners as they like but if it wasn't for the war veterans we could be living in a totally different society today.A lot of us might never have been brought into this world if it wasn't for the all the hard work they put in. Both my grandfathers fought in the war. Both were lifelong Celtic fans. They were proud to stand up for their country.I somehow doubt they would have approved of the banners. A thing people tend to forget is a lot of the soldiers didn't have a choice whether to go out and fight. It was their duty to do so.

I shall now await being called a mass murdering supporting hun. And before anyone jumps in saying i support imperialism...my reply to that would be..bullshit. I don't support it.I don't support the royal family. I do however support anyone who will put their life on the line for a country.

I honestly believe that the song sums up the sentiment of the vast majority who respect rememberance and the poppy. I have honestly never met anyone who has a militaristic or nationalistic take on rememberance and the poppy. I am aware that a tiny amount of people on the far right and loyalists would want to make it like that but they are a tiny minority. For most people its a sad occasion and one of the few things that makes tons of grown men cry. I would also add that almost everyone I know always think of it in terms of WWI and WWII. The general feel of the way people see it is very anti war. The sentiments in the Green Fields of France 100% sums up how the vast majority feel about remembrance.

The point about our own players being in the war in the past is some reason for Celtic to do this anyway.

    Agreed

Don't think i was clear enough, i mean to say, he wants politics out of Celtic but putting the poppy on the hoops is bringing politics into it.

Well, as was said on the news, Celtic Fans where killed in Iraq/Afghanistan, and the best tactic might be to put the poppy on to honor the fans who have died/been in conflict, and make a public statement saying that the reason the poppy was put on the shirt was to honour the fallen Bhoys and Ghirls. That way, it shuts the Scottish media up, and there should be no problem from the huns, as we have a poppy?

And remember, its just an idea. No need to bite my head off

the gb have been great this season bringing a good atmosphere but this one incident is enough to bring all their good work down ! who do they think they are putting banners up like this? it has no place in our stadium. if you want to protest about political things do it elsewhere. celtic is for everybody! so what if a high percentage agree with it? it had no place in our ground and you have shamed us all. as for not even spelling it right ! just laughable ! as iv said before, all your good work could be gone in one stupid move ! hope you are all proud

Yous make it political when some others don't want it to be?

It has a history of having supporters who have more opinions than those of others but it don't warrant the club itself being called political. I come from a very Celtic family in many, many, many sense. But footbal, is football and certain things are not discussed. I understand people need to speak about certain things. But I don't have great opposition to people's views as I can see the thoughts. I just dont think cp is where they should be communicated.

First off some people seem to be misunderstanding the meaning behind the hopelessness expressedby t he song 'the green fields of France' sentiments of which are entirely the antithises of any support for the jingoistic support for HM's armed forces.

Next........we now seem to have a number of supporters expressing that the GB are a disgrace but without explaining why. Somehow they are taking on the job of the establishment by expressing their disgust but without so much as attempting to examine never mind addressing the fundamentals of just why these guys in the GB were protesting.

Lastly, I believe that anyone who supports HM's armed forces could ever be compatible with the ethos of Celtic as far as I understand it, not even the soft conformist non-political comments supporting their views can hide that.

the banner wasnt against the soldiers or army who dies in the world wars real wars. it was against the wars in ireland afghanistan and iraq wars britain should never been in. people saying they had family members in ww1 and ww2 etc are missing the point of the banner
