the club are acting absolutely disgracefully
they make a political statement by putting the poppy on the shirt and then want to ban fans for making a political statement with an opposing viewpoint, absolutely disgusting.

well the point you're making is wrong!

The GB did not insult the British, "war heros". They highlighted that the poppy is not only associated with the two Great Wars, but also a number of illegal wars; Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan, although I also appreciate than a number of people inside Celtic park, in Scotland and in Britain have not got the intelligence to understand the meaning behind such protests without listening to sky news or opening a paper :31:

As a ex soldier and a loyal loyal Celtic fan for over 40 years I was hugely offended that a section of support for my beloved club chose this moment to embarrass the club, they have every right to there beliefs but when you have seen comrades ( some great Celtic fans ) die in front of you for the country they are trying to protect and then people who have never been near this type of conflict can try to represent others who were disgusted with that view being displayed at a football match.
Do I believe the wars were just ( No) do I believe we have a right to complain ( yes) but in the right place and right time not at the football club, this is not why Brother Walfrid formed Celtic or what our Club stands for let the Orc's do that kind of thing.

I like what the Green Brigade have done this season but come on dont bring the politics into Paradise Please.

Why don't we compromise.....we can start wearing the Easter Lily to commemorate the fallen who died for Ireland. Of course all the other clubs need to wear it as well. If an Irish Club are forced to wear the poppy the rest should do the decent thing. What about a * Sunday commemoration and of course those heroes who died in Long Kesh deserve to be honoured.

Of course I am being ironic....I would not expect any nation or people to honour anything they disagree with. So why should we?

People have this view of freedom of speech and that right. Well if that's the case, they have the opportunity to protest anywhere else in the country they want. Why bring it to C.P. it's absolute bullshit to be honest. If they want to be seen as having a bit solidarity and all that, go down and protest about these wars at the places of power in London or sumit. Not in C.P. as it affects the club, it's rep and a substantial amount of fans.

I don't think that's comparable with opposition to illegal occupations.

They will understand things absolutely perfectly, on the other hand a vast amount of those who are pro-poppy have absolutely no idea about what it represents these days, it's sheer ignorance.

Your opinion of them being "* shiners" is no doubt due to you being an ex Brit who served in Ireland by the sounds of things. I apologise if I have picked that up wrongly.

Your deeds, they would shame all the devils in *.

    :50:

Since you are the one salivating over the prospect of the GB members being banned, I would argue that I would rather see a handful of Green Brigaders than 60,000 BA members in the stands.

It's brought to celtic park as that is where the poppy on a celtic shirt will be on show, that is where John Reid is, That is where the point will be made most prominently

The club aren't making a politcal statement, they are actually participating in the appeal. That isn't as political as some make out. It's simply raising money for the appeal.

He didn't form the club so that it could have symbols of British imperialism bestowed on it either.

The great man would be turning in his grave if he has seen what we have become.

because we are better m8. we´ve and we´ll be always better. That was the reason Celtic was founded - to get out, come together, play a game of fitba whether you´re green, white, red, black, yellow, orange, brown, catholic, protestant, muslim, bhuddist, irish, english, scottish, african, asian, latin american (etc. etc. ). why political views should be an exception?. :celt_2::shamrock:

Well if the club are happy for that money to potentially fall in the hands of those found guilty in the Saville Report, those who brutally murdered the Ballymurphy 11 or the murders of innocent civillians like Aidan McAnespie then it says a lot more about them than I ever could.

Celtic Park is exactly the place to show solidarity with Revolutionaries all over the world who have dared to stand up to American/British Imperialism. Our club was founded by Brother Walfrid to help the refugees from Ireland. What the * do you think was going on in Ireland that millions fled?? As I keep saying, dont forget where we came from or who we are. There has been an attempt to silence us for years, to eradicate our Irishness. Well * high time we stood up for what WE believe in. I am not ashamed to be a Republican and my Club is an Irish Club playing in Scotland.
