It violates the no politics at football rule. You may say the poppy is hiposcory to that but fair or not its the way it is.

I'd ban all the celtic fans who are ashamed of the clubs Historic links to Ireland. How many poppies are being worn in The Falls or in the Bogside?

The talk of banning supporters from the club is an absolute disgrace, aye you might not agree with the GB (and John Reid obviously does not) but banning supporters due a major difference in opinion is nothing short of facistic.

John Reid, please leave you revisionist apologist.

whats all this freedom of speech nonsense, that all very good when one man gives his own opinion, but a banner at paradise is seen to the watching hordes as representative of all celtic fans, and therefore an insult to all the bhoys and ghirls who have lost loved ones in these wars, moronic and selfish, cmon gb you dont need to stoop this low

The Green Brigade where wrong to put this up IMO. This was always going to attract unwanted attention, it was obvious

Thing is, your opinion on the poppy is completely irrelevant here - surely no one, supporters of the poppy or not, can be advocating bans for what is an expression of opinion ?

I could spin that around and say the symbolism and what the poppy represents offends me, therefore offensive. I don't see pro-poppy supprters being banned anytime soon, nor would I ever want them to be banned.

look at the words in that, does not compare to a wee flower embroidered on a shirt that represents paying money to help families of the fallen!

Celtic shouldn't be banning anyone, the banner actually just expressed an opinion, everything said in the banner was actually spot on, it highlighted the fact that these wars were illegal, and that the poppy represents these wars.

It didnt insult the war dead, if it insulted anyone surely it has insulted previous British governments.
