yeah im not against the Green Brigade's stance, there have been many people affected by the actions of the British Army over the years. I have no problem with people refusing to wear one, the war was won to stop fascism, so how can it be fair that people are forced to wear a poppy? Personally i think the GB's banner display shouldn't have went ahead, they should boycott games etc if they feel so strongly about it imo.

Lads yous may be infuriated and embarassed at the banner, but thats the way these people will feel about the poppy, theres 2 sides to it. i was in with them on saturday was behind the red writing, couldnt make out what it said....

these men, are protesting against something they believe, i have no problem with that.

only embarassing thing is the spelling.

I think it should be an individuals choice if they want to wear one, even though i support the GB opinion on the issue, if individuals want to waer a poppy to commemerate relatives it cool.:50:

However the down side is that the funds from the poppy go to the soldiers coming back from afghanistan and iraq, recieveing a heroes welcome , considering some of the horrible things done to the civilian population over there.

Players should also have a choice if they want to wear one on their top, what i don't like is a player has to wear a top with a poppy on it, even though he may not want to wear a poppy.

A football stadium is no place for political protests. I hope there is no disrespecting the minutes silence at Love Street on sunday

Its also to remeber the fallen.

Celtic had several players killed in the 1st world war. One even got awarded the Victoria cross.

The poppy is not about glorifying wars. Everyone with an ounce of sense knows that wars are a terrible thing and it would be wonderful if we were able to survive as a species without them. The poppy is about the people, soldiers AND civillians, who unfortunately lose their life to conflicts. You may disagree with the forces conflict involvements and you have the right to not wear a poppy. But banners like that shove their opinion in the faces of people who aren't interested. We should be allowed to support the poppy appeal in peace.

    Correct.

    It's a shame they're so selfish.

Exactly. I'm fed up with any excuse to try and give Celtic a bad name and all the GB are doing is giving them ammunition.

The thing is, they aren't everyone's view. I personally don't think the club tops should have the poppy on them but I still disagree with the protest.

They are allowed their opinion, they shouldn't be airing it when Celtic are playing however.

nah mate, he said somehting like it'll be looked into.

at the end of the day, it's the minority who want it.

although i think, it will be more offensive wearing it than not

no he never, the Celtic Trust approached him over the matter to which he stated he'd consult the other board members over the matter. At no stage did he say the club wouldn't wear the poppy.

its a personal choice, people have the right to wear/not to wear one. No need for an apology

I'm not defending the wars here, but although there have been incidents out there that aren't admirable, there have been soldiers who are there trying to make a positive change to the countries they're working in. Surely you have no problem with wounded soldiers being given aid?

I agree with your first & third paragraphs.
