Old man Weir and Boughera will have a world of trouble dealing with Hooper and Samaras up front. With Maloney wide left and Stoke on the right both cutting in and Ledley spraying passes about and shooting at any sight of goal we should win comfortably.

Think we will need to play maloney through the middle as they will probably play their defensive formation so we will have to go through them. Maloney will get us a few fouls from Weir and Bougherra as Shaun's feet are too quick for them hopefully he can generate chances aswell. Only worry is Loovens other than that we have the better side imo!

This is the most nervous I have felt before an OF game since the three in a row season!

    Why we'll beat The Gers

I have been talking to a friend of mine who is a Northern Irish Hun and we just argue for fun about who is better but this Sunday is ours to lose I feel, this is pretty much a trascript of my arguments to him.

First of all we are at home which in this sort of game all over the world from The Manchester derby to El Classico all the way down to Stockport Vs. Macclesfield - home advantage can often give the players that bit of extra backing when it comes to trying things they would normally be a bit more wary of trying maybe at there place.

Rangers this season have been poor, they've had the scores but they have been poor, eventually they will get sussed out, it's all well and good having smash and grab raids against Motherwll and Hibs but if they show such a blatent lack of skill and talent this Sunday at Parkhead they don't stand a chance.

In my friends words, "Rangers battered Valencia for 90 minutes" which at first could well have been true if not for the fact that shortly after I saw a statistic that Valencia had 70% possession, now is it just me or is the amount of quality you can show with 30% possession limited? apparently they could've scored 5 or 6 goals with open nets and 1 on 1's to me this just shows that they can't score personally!
If Rangers idea of battering someone is having 30% possession, less shots and not being able to score open nets, imagine if they had a bad game

Not to mention the fact that we just simply have a better squad and firey young manager who has everything to prove as a manager as opposed to Walter Smith who is off at the end of the season wherever they finish in the league and they will have tired legs from Europe whereas we will be nice and fit and ready for battle!

For all these reasons I believe this is ours too lose!

    Rant over....

    HAIL! HAIL! :celt_2:

Good post mate, but from years and years of Old firm games, you simply can't predict them. If Rangers had lost every game this season, I still wouldn't bet any money on the result.

The commentator says it before the match and its true, anything can happen in this game, if Rangers had beaten Barcelona 5-0 we would still have a 50% chance of winning, imo, all form, results all goes out of the window for this game, we just have to pray the lads in green come out on top.

Also, you could argue that being at home for the OF is a negative thing, you have to be the attacking side, you are underpressure from the fans to attack, often leading in sucker punchers, if your away, you can play it any way you want without fear of the fans losing patitence.

Of course the crowd is the 12th man and thousands of screaming fans might just motivate the team into a final push, really hard to say, is the home advantage really that important for a Celtic v Rangers game?

Never like it when people state " We will beat them". I always keep it shut until we've won.

I agree we have the best chance in a year or so to stick it to them, but they can go either way

A Repeat of the O'Neill days? Celtic 6-2 Gers or maybe we can go the whole hog and get Celtic 7-1 Rangers, or we saving that one for cup final day ;)

In all seriousness it think it'll be Celtic 4-1 Rangers, Hooper 2, Maloney and Ledley!

Apart from the 15 minute spell into the 2nd half it was mostly huns making the clear chances and it's even more surprising because they never really packed into Valencia's half.. They are predictable with 2 and 3 man waves of attacks but it's surprising how often it leads to a 1 against 1 situation..
What I'd say is if we defend without making mistakes it will take something special for them to break us.. I also think it will take something special from their defence to prevent us from scoring.. Has the makings of a great game and I also believe we will win , and for some reason I think we'll do it with a bit to spare..

    Fears for sunday

Sorry if theres been a thread on this.

Im not trying to be negative here but what could swing the game in their favour. I think if were gonna win itll be in midfield, but i fear for us at the back. Not sure with Loovens and i think miller and naismith especially will be their main threats, if we stop them from playing and dont give Davis time on the ball i think we have the ability to beat them

They have more players who have previously played in this derby match and they have a far more experienced manager and their entire team will be feeling confident after recent results.

My biggest fear would be conceding the opening goal..
