When you think of the job he does for the club compared to some of the imposters we have on our book he is on peanuts

great gesture, yes he would earn more else where, but there is no place like home,
but if you pay peanuts, you will always get monkeys, and our club don't need them as we have had a few in the past. well done Peter, keep us in safe keeping

you have to pay this money out mate, or you will end up having
board meetings down the pub, mate, there where others before who used to count gate money, at the family table, and never heard much of that. we have moved on and it is all there for every one to see accounts

One of the best chief execs in British football.

I've heard some folk constantly niggling at him (eTims, although a good site, is particularly guilty) like he is some outrageous fat cat. But when you break it down, his total pay - including bonuses - works out about 14K a week.

Now that is a lot of money, but some of the players are on almost 3 times that - and do they contribute as much to our success as he does? Don't think so.

not sure what you mean by that but, i think peter has brought money to the club, he had naka well covered, and sold loads of merchandice i belive in Asia, and responsible for sponsorships, hospitality, loads and if your a not liked person, you wouldn't be able to do these things for the club jmo

thats a fair enough point i guess; Lawell has done a good job steering us through these harsh financial times; yes he isnt perfect but it would seem he has taken on board the quite justified criticism about accepting bonuses when the team is *; sure the bonus in question may be a drop in the ocean when you consider his overall salary but it still takes a lot of balls to turn down that amount at any given time

ONe of my fave Celt's and it really grinds my gears when you get the odd person trying to come across all in the know, sensationalist and "proving the doubters" by posting elaborate blogs about how he's a big fat cat ripping us all off.

Glad he didn't end up at Arsenal but I can see him hitting a team of similar ilk one day yet and it will be a massive loss for us...
