anyone else think kayal and juarez were poor?! I thought ledley was mediocre, but won possesion back well. Think we missed forrest! Maloney couldnt beat that defender comfortably!! And stokes and murphy worked there socks off and were rewarded with their goals! 3 points though, onwards and upwards! :shamrock:

Great performance from the boys today !
A few scary moments but overall a class performance !! good passing and shutting down, I reckon the huns will have a few problems dealing with this Killie team.
Think we just need a bit more cutting edge in the final third and we will be some team to deal with !!!
My final words, Izzy our left back, My * I love this player, what a find, a player destined for The English Premier. Keep it up Lenny !

I'm a bit worried by the lack of urgency towards the end of the game and we looked a bit shaky at the back but to pick up three points away from home when we weren't at our best is something we missed last season.

Pleased with the points but need to up our game a bit.

Not when the league has come down to goal difference on the last day. 2-1 up and some of the players turned lothargical, I think what needs to get drilled into some of the players is a mentality mould. 100% effort at all times, otherwise you are hooked. The fans pay to see 90+ mins of effort, not 81 and a half.

    INTELLIGENCE

Is it just me or is it when I watch the hoops the majority of the players don't really seem to have quick sharp minds and simple intelligence need to play football? Examples I seen today were two players closing down an opposition player and not working as a 2 man team to shut off a forward pass, instead deciding the pair of them to rush to the opposing player and find that they've been beaten very easily.

Too many times I witnessed today poor decisions that resulted in the ball being booted from the park because of a poor initial pass due to lack of awareness or a good run made by a player into space only to find the ball being passed to someone 10 yards away with a man right up his back waiting to tackle. The point I'm trying to make is that good early decisions have to be made in order a good flowing rhythm of passing and movement and key passes. I don't think we have many players in our team who can see the vital 2 or 3 passes ahead before they are played so make a poor initial judgement and decision and any move is already grounded before it gets momentum. It happens week in and week out and is why we cannot play well against stronger opposition because we can be read like a book from front to back and lack the footballing intelligence from the very basic to creative flair. Examples today I witnessed were : Not taking a touch before crossing; deciding to go with your foot rather than the more natural head at times; trying to cross the ball 60 yards across the pitch to a single man surrounded by 3 players; Not getting goalside of an attacker; Overhitting far too many crosses without looking up before doing so; When a foul is given against you moan to the referee or make some gesture instead of getting straight on your feet and playing the game, the list goes on.

I hate to criticise my team but its only because I want them to get stronger. Given todays performance I dread if we play like that against Rangers because we will get beaten convincingly.

Have you watched rangers play this season - Miller is carrying that lot. they have not exactly been made to work hard. They were lucky last week at Hamilton to say we will get beaten convincingly is a bit too far. We can and WILL get better if Lennon drops brown & Loovens at least were creating chances ok maybe not taking them all but it 3 points that matter.

There was no contact, but the player slid between Juarez and the ball. It's a foul. Would you rather he ran into him and then fell over to make it more convincing like the other players do?

I quite agree with you , He is an impact player to bring on with 20 minutes to go but dont understand letting him start a game because he rarely finnishes it .

We didn't look so strong and composed with McCourt starting the game,
our midfield looked lightweight, and our shape was poor, and we should have anticipated that Killie, who are playing well just now, would come at us like a storm. This was a tactical miscalculation on Lenny's part I feel.

The injury to McCourt may well have been a blessing in disguise because it allowed us to bring Stokesy on. Murphy took his penalty again with great composure and aplomb.
Stokes must start and play every match. He works extremely hard, defends from the front and as we saw today scored a cracking goal.

Paddy is to my way of thinking, is best used as an impact sub.

Anyone else noticed a lot of players getting * off at Kayal doing that thing where he touches their head? Noticed some European players do it too. I take it it's a sign of apology/no hard feelings sort of thing, but Scottish players seem to take it the wrong way.

Well apart from that terrible opening 10 minutes when we simply didn't deal with Kilmarnocks huff and puff we were totally dominant in possession of the ball. No question we deserved the win. But I was concerned by our lack of ability to open up their back line more often given just how dominant with the ball we were. I also felt our corners were generally poor again especially considering how many we had. But I guess at the end of the day we did well after a bad start to control the game and come away with the win.

We never got out of second gear today but still bagged the points, not every match will be free flowing pretty football, for whatever reason the passing today was very poor, we were inviting trouble on ourselves..........:shamrock:
