Ok you have a spare £10 k .

Do you think it would be a good investment to spend this 10 k on shares in Celtic.

I would think shares would rocket if we entered a different football setup i.e epl, atlantic league and so on.

I can see this happening in some form in the next 10 years.

So would the shares rocket as much as I think or not.

Or would this be a big gamble with 10 k

I think so. I don't know the share price just now but it will only go up when we win things again. Wish I had the 10k to do that though.:icon_mrgreen:

I think Dermot is hanging on for this big windfall. That is why he is promoting Celtic playing elsewhere so much.

As soon as we move from the spl Dermot would sell because they would be queueing up to buy Celtic if we entered that scenario

10k is a lot of money to gamble with and I wouldn't be sure I would go through with it unless I won the lottery or something. The shares would go up if we in the SPL this season and get in the CL but I don't know by how much.

I'm not confident of joining another league in the near future unless UEFA set up a League themselves. If it wouldn't make them the same money as the CL they would never approve it though.

I bought shares in one of the share offers in the 90's. the price was £2.80 per share at that point( i think). the shares are now worth 42p each. i never bought the shares for personal gain, it was to help the club and to become part of the club. if someone has 10k to invest in shares to try to make money, stay away from football clubs. however if you give me an offer i canny refuse.....lol:84:

I think the current share price is 42.5 pence per share.

Investments in football clubs are never considered "good investments".

If you were to invest £10k it wouldn't get you a huge holding and the only way the share price would rocket is if we got a move to another league as frankly the SPL is pretty worthless. Even winning the league wont alter the price that much, in the past 12 months the price has ranged from a low of 41 pence to a high of 47 pence per share.

If I had a spare 10k just sitting around doing nothing then yeah I would "invest" it in Celtic but it wouldn't be as an investment as I'd have no intention of selling. However, if someone was to give me 10k tomorrow then no I wouldn't invest it in Celtic there are a lot more urgent things I could use that money on, afraid an investment in Celtic is a luxury and would not be high on my list of priorities.

Say if we joined the epl how much would the price rise . How much currently is the share prices at the top clubs competing in cl because thats were we would be after a few years in the league.

Ok man utd share price is around 300p celtic is 42 p . I beleive if we were in the same league we would be as equally as big of a club if not bigger. So are price would roughly rise 6 times . So your 10k would be worth 60 k if we played in the epl for a number of years.

THIS IS ALL IFS AND BUTS I KNOW AND ROUGH FIGURES .BUT IT GIVES YOU AN IDEA,

you can't really compare the actual share price of different clubs as that won't tell you very much, for instance both Birmingham and Preston North End currently trade at around 99pence per share.

The share price isn't just based on footballing results, it's based on the entire company's performance as well as the demand for shares, so say Celtic went through a bit of a slump, but people were buying their shares, this would drive the price up despite poor results on the field.

Market conditions, football performance, financial performance, demand, earnings per share, debt to equity ratios, profit ratios etc will all have an impact on the share price so it's impossible to guess how much it would go up by. There's a graph on this link that shows you the share price over the past 5 years:

Celtic PLC (CCP) Company Profile - CorporateInformation.com

From that (the black dots) you can see it's not changed significantly despite how different the performance on the field has been over the 5 years.

Teams in the EPL are broke, teams in MLB are broke, teams in the NBA are broke, the only team in the SPL that don't owe money are Hibs.

Take yer 10 grand and enjoy it:icon_mrgreen:

Exactly, The richest teams in the EPL are the ones that get promoted from i.e Hull, Burnley and they all end up in debt....

Stick to what we have and what we know, winning is sweeter that way

If you wanted to make money, don't even consider football.

If you want 'an emotional investment' exactly the same as Desmond but obviously on a vastly smaller scale then put your 10k in Celtic.

Agreed. Thats all you will have...minus your 10k that is in the club.

Its a good amount of cash for most folk but in the scheme of things its going to be more value in your pocket than the clubs as its not going to do that much for them.
