Right, we have the chance to bring any of the above players in, who would or can bang more than 20 a season.

In reallity,if any of the players in question actual sign and do the business on the field.who would be our best sell on assest in 3 or 4 years time ? after all celtic will be looking at this

my money would be on Stokes...

NB,Mods can you add a pole please?

You would probably still get more for a 33-34 year old Robbie Keane than you would get for a 25-26 year old Anthony Stokes. You're basing that on Stokes coming to Celtic and banging in 30 goals a season. He might sign for us and be pish! Keane is a proven goalscorer and played for top teams. Stokes has still got a long way to go!

Keane as he has proven he can score consistantly in the epl where as Stokes banged in goals in Scotland got his move and failed. Epl managers will now be highly reluctant to spend any decent amount of money on Stokes even if he does have a good scoring record here.

In all honesty if Stokes was capable of scoring 30 this season, alongside Hooper then there is really no need to sign Robbie Keane. Can i be greedy and hope that we sign both Keane and Stokes:icon_mrgreen:

All if's and but's - Keane would be a waste of money if Stokes scored loads but there is far less risk involved in signing Keane as we know how he will do for us

The thing about loaning guys like Keane is it is living miles beyond our means. The guys wages are about 3 million a year. I think we are aiming for an average wage of about a fifth of that. It just feels a bit like its fantasy. We need to find good players within our own wage and fee bracet. It can be done and to date I think Lenny has done a good job in doing that. Skippy is a great example of a cheap player who gave us great service and could do it in big games, the CL etc. I would love to get him back. Stokes is more in our realistic league although for every Skippy there are four or five Killens when the step up is taken.

Keane is a different class to Stokes. Butsince we can afford Stokes looks like that's what we'll settle with

what I do not understand is why is it a Hibs striker or Keane? Why cant we get a higher level striker from abroad in the 3-4 million bracket?

it's not about how they compare to one another,it's about making a profit in 3 or 4 years time.

most clubs want there players punted in the last year of contract.do we settle for this or do we put our money head on and think how much we could sell each player for when there time is up.

if your were on the board and celtic was your business, what would you do?

you maybe correct, there's not many big clubs knocking on Keane's door now,so 4 years down the road you would think with his age,it would be pay as you play and become another of Michael Owen sort of deal

there's no way of knowing that a striker from abroad would be a hit, these 2 names would be and should be.we need reliability now.to gamble with the league at stake could be crucial.

if we had a stable team (which we dont at the minute)then maybe yes to abroad

I can't believe so many people are giving stokes such a hard time! Give the guy a break, he was 19 or thereabouts when he moved to England so I'd hardly call him a failure at that age! To many people jumping on the band wagon of stokes is pish and not Celtic class but if he ends up at Celtic and bangs in the goals il bet that the Same people slating him now will think he's awesome! Typical

Not a difficult one this. If you want to win the League this season and qualify for at least the Europa League next season, Keane is the man. If you don't mind finishing 2nd behind Rangers without risking a loss it's Stokes.

    I'm going for Keane.

I would take robbie keane any day of the week to be honest, im still not happy that celtic think signing stokes is going to be the solution to our problems up front.

Not being funny just honest. After his best career run at Falkirk he's never come close to that form again. Although in a better team with better service who knows?

Not totally sold on Stokes tbh, stinks of a desperation buy imo.

I've watched his game closely since the beginning of the season as I knew we would sign him and I've seen absolutely nothing in him to make me believe he would produce the goods. Riordon's stood out in the 3 Hibs matches I've watched and I'm not really a fan of his either.

Absolute no brainer! Keane every day of the week! No chance Stokes will score 20+ for us. Keane would.

Yip, and we won't win the League with just Stokes, Murphy and Samaras up front. Other SPL sides have better options lol.
