think that sums it up perfectly. on the pitch they are willing to kick each other and dive to get one another sent off as it would benefit their team and have their own fans chanting their name.

also, many of these players will have known each other before their time at the OF, whether it be playing for scotland youth teams or other spl teams.

i heard Jim Baxter used to spend more time with his Celtic playing mates than he did with his fellow team mates.
Ally McCoist and Walter Smith for me showed what its really all about when they carried TBs coffin for that I have enormous respect for them and as for Walter Smith his record speaks for itself as much as it annoys me he has more often than my wife made my life a misery.
In saying all that a large portion of there support are absolute low life vermin who I wouldnt spit on if they where on fire but most are reasonable and basically 90 minute bigots

Do you know mccoist personally or something? Do you know what he thinks day in day out.

How who is "his" mates then from celtic. Now do you mean mates and not someone who he says hello to now and then.

When it comes to an Old Firm match then both players and fans are passionate about defeating their rivals, rightly so. I'd say the fans don't like each other for 90 mins but outside of that its pretty much banter. Well thats the way it is with my Rangers -supporting mates - we will laugh at each other's team when bad results happen and be rivals at old firm games but outside of that its just football banter.

Listen we all know what happened with mccoist/smith and Tb`s funeral.Amazing and brought a tear to my eye what they did. brough the O.F together.

All I was getting at was mccoist sticks it right up us and loves doing it at evey opportunity, you seemed to me to make out that because mccoist is mates with some celtic players means he contains his dislike or whatever you would like to call it towards celtic to within his working hours!

For me that is bullshit, I dont like him or any of them for that matter and take great joy in seeing there sorry faces losing at every turn and as I would imagine the feelings likewise. But you deemed me to be small minded and immature from my comments.

How do you know mccoist does not think the same?

    Im off this thread now.

I have a few hun mates who are fine when football isn't around. They are complete arseholes when it is. I've watched many Scotland games with them and they always rip into the Celtic players in the team and it seems like they want them to play *. They need to know when to draw the line.

Shockerooni, he loves beating his biggest rivals. A basic requirement of a player and fans I would have thought??!

No ,The basic requirement of every player that plays for a club is that they give 100% in every game not just the derbies ,less of the add-on's of Deary me .

Of course but the biggest feeling of pleasure is beating your biggest rivals.

I have a lot of good friends who are Rangers fans, i wouldnt go and watch an auld firm game with any of them but i dont HATE them for who they support. Do any of you remember a good few years ago Barry Ferguson either won something or was getting recognised for something i cant really remember, but it cut to footage in his living room at home and Niel Lennon was lying on his couch shouting on his wife to bring him a cup of tea, funny as *. I think most of them get on off the pitch :50:

My best mate supports Rangers, apart from the 90 minutes 4 times a year it doesn't bother me in the slightest, great guy.

My best mate is current bun and so are my 2 brothers but I get on with them. There is nothing I love more than beating rangers or watching rangers get beat, its fantastic!

But at the end of the day the players are paid to give there all. I think off the pitch most of them are friends, they are just normal guys. I would love to sit and get a few drinks with ally mccoist, gazza and neil lennon, what a laugh that would be.

Firstly, what are you talking about. I bet alot of our players see Rangers players as players like them. They share the common ground of doing the same professional job, playing in the same league, same circles etc. Scott Browns best mate is Kevin Thompson (ex gers)...and alot of the squad are good friends with Rangers players. This has been the case even in the good old days. The amount of documentaries/talking heads quotes from ex-players from both sides showing a mutual respect and often friendship for each other is numerous.

Secondly, this is a GOOD thing. Going to battle for 90 mins is great but afterwards why should fellow professionals hate one another? Hate is a very strong word mate. Hate is what gets folks stabbed and killed after football games. It is * stupid to truly hate for reasons such as that.

I don't like Rangers, but if Davie Wear walked past me in the street I would show him the respect any other human being should expect. Infact, I would go as far to say anytime I seen Weir speak on telly, he seems a nice chap, always showing us the respect, playing with Celts in the national team etc.

I am not a bigot in any way but if i was a player in the 90s i would have broken Gazzas leg. McCoist wouldnt be far behind

Weir is a *. A right bully. He's the first on the scene during a scrap just because he's 6 foot 3 or 4 or whatever he thinks he can push people around. And worse, he gets away with it.

Brown and Thomson's friendship goes back years and years to the Hibs days. Has nothing to do with the Old Firm. Thomson put his arm round Brown when he got sent off in the O.F last season.
