He was poor, but then the whole team was.

In the 1st half any time he received the ball wide left the Spanish doubled up on him, that show's the respect he gets.

McGeady is not a winger imo. He should be playing that No.10 role behind the striker with no defensive responsibilties. I think McGeady`s real potential will be realised if he did play there

To be fair you could easily say that about almost the whole Irish starting lineup.

After a long time thinking about this... I guess I sort of feel sorry for Aiden, in Trap's tactics he doesn't really get enough supply, and when he does he is usually isolated.

We seriously need McCarthy, Gibson and the likes in midfield soon, I know Trap likes Andrews and Whelan, but I'd imagine Andrews holding, with McCarthy and Gibson slightly advanced in midfield would give us a solid shape in midfield and will benefit McGeady and our other winger greatly.

Meyler, Pilkington and Hoolahan are other midfielders I hope to see given a chance soon.

McCarthy needs to get into the Irish midfield very soon. They are missing talent on the ball in there.

    Very much agreed!

Also missing Seamus Coleman's drive down the right hand side.....I am still bamboozled as to why he was not picked?

:icon_mrgreen: I know im * of at him big time for the last three years. Can you imagine if it was Stan who brought on Paul Green on against Spain. The media and fans would have butchered him. But because its Trap everything fine. If I ever see McShane or Paul Green in an Ireland shirt after tonight I think I may cry.:54:

How can Aiden even get the ball to put in a good performance for ROI? That team cant even string together a few passes, everything was a big lump up to the strikers.. horrible. Aiden cant be effective if his team cant even hold the ball for longer than 20 seconds, it just isnt going to work.

Exactly, I've felt really sorry for him and Keane watching the Ireland games, haven't had a hope in *.

The one chance McGeady got he put in a cross which got them a goal.

That was against Spain ffs. Barely any team in the world get much possesion when playing against Spain. Most other games he is actually one of irelands most important players, like he was tonight against Italy.

And yet Trap ALWAYS seems to sub him after like 50 minutes? :97:

He always subs Duff too, does that mean he isn't an important player?

I wasn't questioning your opinion mate, I agree with you, I think he's Ireland's most talented player by a * country mile and Trap is mad to play him in * positions, sub him and surround him with * players who can't pass or attack. But what can you do lol

Again, If McGeady is as good as you say he is, then why isn't he coming to meet the ball and use his skill to drive the team forward, instead of waiting on the wing to recieve the ball?

The team has been poor, and McGeady also has been poor - regardless of tactics and/or the quality of team mates.

Becasue you dont just ignore the manager. If the manager tells you to stay out wide then you do it. If he ignored trap he would be banished from the setup and would never get a game for Ireland as long as Trap was in charge. That how trap works.
