Definitely not a myth, especially his Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year season.

Are you seriously suggesting that we couldn't have been doing with a player of McGeadys ability 3-0 down to Kilmarnock or 4-2 down to the Huns? I would've loved it.

I disagree with that, Celtic became to predictable and SPL clubs doubled up on him the only thing I would say that he was fustrated and prob stagnating a bit we sold him at the right time best for both parties

I think that was down to needing a change of management. In this team, McGeady in the Kris Commons position supporting the strikers would be excellent, room to roam inside or take players on the wing, with Izzy supporting behind him makes it difficult to do so.

McGeady played in a very regimented team and wasn't allowed anywhere apart from whatever wing he was on, usually with Lee Naylor behind him not being much use.

The only game he was given the freedom of movement under Gordon Strachan was against Rangers in the League Cup final, he was Man of the Match. Of course Strachan was proven right to do so as he was so succesful but I would have liked to see the reigns taken off of him under a decent manager.

Those seasons were his best seasons, but most certainly a myth that he "carried" a team - that is just nonsense.

I am seriously suggesting that mate - as soon as any teams double up on McGeady, the Performing Seal is absolutely *.

Infact, I seem to remember a certain game in the not too distant past where Ross Tokely had him in his back pocket when he and another doubled up.

Young Forrest looks to be a more exciting player than McGeady - no need for all the fancy bullshite just totally direct and attacking - although, he seems to be having a wee bit of bother as soon as doubled up on as well.

    In your opinion of course.

I don't like winger types in general unless they happen to be direct and creative. McGeady is neither. Forrest is also a lot quicker than him also and loses possession a lot less.

Luxury players you can only have so much of. Samaras also offers a heck of a lot more with his physical ability and defending at set plays.

Ireland wouldn't miss him either and I reckon Trap will boot him out the team for the remaining matches.

McGeady is never a winger in his life.

Loved McGeady- the only thing I thought was that he should have scored more goals! Forrest my not be quite as skilful as McGeady but he is ore of a goal threat! PS I only turned the Ireland game on just after ghalf time- McGeady should be inspirational-he was not last night!

See that's the thing - lot of people saying Ireland's problem last night was they were pushed back to much last night....so why weren't players like McGeady screaming for the ball and using his "guile" to push them up the park instead of hiding?

They weren't 'pushed' back. Trap had them sitting back, there's a big difference.

That isn't pushed back, thats Trap having then sit back and them being unable to get out due to having to sit back - hence being 'pinned' back.

Or do you think Trap set them up to play higher up the park?

They were set up to play counter attacking fitba, but hardly the uber-defensive tactics you speak of. Since when have any of Trap's teams been set up as free-flowing attacking teams?

Croatia were attacking left/right/centre - hence Ireland being "pushed" back.

The problem was that Croatia had more midfielders. Wingers are a waste of time.

I like the attitude, all the team was playing bad, but McGeady is definitely weakest ))))))) Despite the goal assist.

My personal IMHO is that McGeady overburned in last game and he is not good in the tactics coach of Ireland chose. He is good when there is smbd to play with or when he gets ball on the run but if there is nobody to play what do you expect from him? Miracle?

James McClean in instead of him, i would have said Duff to be dropped, but he actually tried to create chances. McGeady was the worst player on the pitch.

McClean will be able to whip better crosses in and is young and enthusiastic.

I just don't understand Ireland coach, why he is not using McGeadys strong sides? He will not succeed without passes and support from the team. He plays completely different in Spartak Moscow.

Again last night McGeady was the only one getting himself up the pitch to try and support and got a few good balls in the box.
