Good performance. Really pleased with Kayal and Danny. Tonight was the only time in a year and half that i felt calm when the other team was attacking us because of Danny.....hes a machine. As for Kayal, looks like we found ourselves a great player. Think everyone had a good game....well done

 

I have just had to sit down and read that again Ross ..Fair Play credit where its due ..Great all round performance ..Lets hope this can start the season off properly ...Lets go there next week and do a job Hail Hail !! im happy

 

At no point did I say that in my post, go back and read it properly before you throw your rattle out. I fully praised the Celtic performance whilst striking a note of caution.

Utrecht's ball retention was poor and they were devoid of pace, power or any real threat.

They are an average mid-table dutch side and looked every bit just that tonight.

Yes I agree . He brought something to the team tonight and will command respect. Reminded me of a better version of that last balding high profile expensive flop we had -- ????

Happy with tonight's showing and like most others I thought Kyal was the main man..

2nd leg will be interesting.. If we hadn't had the dire showing in Portugal against Braga then I'd have been happy to see us play a cautious 5 man midfield for the game in Holland but playing a containing game isn't my idea of seeing out this tie..
Yes , the closing down tonight was great but what we are facing is a task of scoring just 1 goal away from home and Utrecht will need 4.. Braga needed to score 1 at Celtic Park to make us need 5 and they managed it and from what I've seen in 90 minutes we are a better and probably fitter team than Utrecht.. Lets go and attack them from the whistle..
I also believe Scottish clubs have undersold themselves on the european stage for close on 15 years untill the 2 UEFA finals , by worrying about the opposition rather than playing their normal game.. The way forward this season is to play without fear..
I think we might just have some players to do that...

I am happy with the win but will we go through over there, I aint so sure, they are a good team and have some quality players.
Big Samaras scored a verygood goal, but in my opinion he should have been subbed early in the second half, three players on the Celtic team that have great opportunities to be constructive and give Celtic golden chances to either give assists or score on there own of course except Brown because he more or less cannae dae much of anything, and yes the three are Brown, Samaras, and Fortune!

I thought they moved it up the park quite well to be fair. A few tricky players to.

Did anybody notice Kayal charging down the ball and commanding everybody to join him in doing so I love the guy. If he plays like that for 70-80% of the season we will struggle to keep him. Players with that Stamina, Energy and drive, as well as, being to pass the ball dont come along very often.

Very promising performance with those previously mentioned as being particuar stand-outs on the night, but what the * happened to Samaras in the 2nd half as opposed to a brilliant first 45 mins, continues to prove he is the proverbial enigma.

 

Brown was very good the night. But you probably had your mind made up before kick off aye?

No one wants the guy to be a success more than me mate, trust me, he's just let us down too often, he did well in a destructive role tonight without lunging into stupid tackles and charging about like a loony and let Kayal dictate the game in front of him.

I can only hope he does it consistently.

brown was great tonight.them 3 in midfield are the best we've had in a while.if they play like that together on the 1st game just wait till they know each others game

We will go from strength to strength going forward goals will cume in abundence!!! If we can keep it out at the back we will be a very very difficult team to beat when we proper gel!!

Chuffed to bits, wee lennny must have worked night and day from getting the nod as boss!! all this doesnt come over night!! big dan and juarez will be the difference this season for us
