The main man came in at the end of last season and performed remarkably compared to his predecessor. Most of the fans, the faithful, were happy with his appointment as he's a celtic man - a man the fans can relate with. This summer was seen as a summer where a major revolution had to take place so that the club could reclaim the title from Rangers grasp. So far this close season we have signed 9 players: Cha, Mulgrew, Juarez, Hooper, Majstorovic, Izagurre, Ledley, Keyal, Murphy. We have also recouped money from Boruc, McManus and McGeady. So given that celtic managers are judged based on immediate success in their first season (Jansen, O'Neill, Strachan) have we really equipped ourselves with the necessary quality of player required to achieve this success? or are we just trying to sell jerseys in obscure countries such as Honduras, Mexico, South Korea etc. I am sceptical regarding just how much a part Neil played in signing the likes of Keyal, Cha, Izagurre and with the homegrown rule likely to be introduced into Scotland soon was Mulgrew signed for this reason? In the past, I believe it was said by Martin O'Neill not sure though, it was said that in order for Celtic to win the league they had to be much better than their opponents where as the opposite cannot be said to be true. So are we a great deal better than Rangers? Rangers have been said to be weakened considerably this summer but who can honestly say that Weiss, Jelavic, Beattie are poorer players than Novo, Thomson, Boyd. None (you'd be a fool). I get the feeling that Rangers are a team pulling in the same direction and so any of these signings will fit right in yet we just seem to have assembled a conglomerate of players from all over the globe for not just footballing reasons, but also marketing. Time will tell however! Hail Hail!

There is every chance Lenny picked out Cha, Juarez, and Izaguirre considering they all played at the WC. And I doubt they are tryna punt jerseys in Honduras considering it is almost third world. As for Kayal, players like that are the reason we employ scouts...of course Lennon isn't an Israeli football guru. That being said, you can't ask for a revolution and then expect these players to just start playing like life-long teammates. They will play like strangers because many of them ARE strangers...this is just something we need to go thru for a while.

Rangers look like they are all pulling in the same direction because most of them have known each other for a good while. And as much as it pains me to say it, they are the Champions. This means we are the ones that need to make the necessary changes.

But lets be honest, whether our new players take a long time to click or not, drastic change was needed...last season's side were simply not gonna improve.

I think the players that have been brought in are great additions to our team and is just coming as a bonus to the board that they will have marketing values i dont think for a second that the board are bringing in these players for these reasons.

We might punt a few jerseys in Seoul, but we definitely aint selling any £40 Nike Hoops in Mexico City, or the West Bank, or in the jungles of Central America!

Believe me, the marketing people at CP know this!

Certainly not a puppet! He is buying his OWN players and Lawell & Co. are helping him along in his conquest.

Not a puppet imo - he has scouting staff to identify these players - they scour the world for talent hence why we have signed a group of players from various countries. I don't envisage Israel, Honduras or Mexico as being a goldmine for shirt sales. The Asian countries like South Korea, Japan and China perhaps, but not the countries of the players we have signed.

Hate to be pedantic, but that'd be a lot easier to read if you put a paragraph or two in there.

Lenno definately talks with passion and pride :shamrock:. He wears his heart on his sleeve and it would hurt him to see Celtic get beat as much as it hurts the rest of us.

He's a fan, a ex-player and now manager, listen to what he says, he wants success, he wants to bring Celtic to the top.

We need to be prepared to sit back and give this squad a bit of time to gel and get used to each other and then the brilliance will happen.

In answer to the post title. Lennon is a Celtic man period. No way Will Lennon be anyone's puppet. I believe if that ever became the case, that the board expected him to behave as such, the man would walk away even although he loves the club.

Can the players Lennon has brought in wrench the title back from across the city? Time will tell, it is far to early to make any kind of sensible prediction.

I don't think spending the best part of four million on Juarez is an attempt to sell Jersey's in Mexico.....With all due respect I think most working class Mexicans will find buying their own team's players jerseys hard enough without forking out on a Celtic top. I always think people put far too much emphasise on this when these type of deals are made....Unless the player is a world class star then few of his country men will buy the top. If it's a player the likes of Cha coming from China then my guess is any Chinese fan who wants a Cha Celtic jersey will find a counterfeit one before forking out for a Celtic FC original...China is the counterfeit capital of the world, also most of the people there are extremely poor.

If the sole intent in buying these players was to profit from the sale of tops then the marketing men need to re-think that particular strategy. Naka was a one of for us in my opinion because he is held in Beckham like esteem in Japan, I can see the sense in buying someone of that ilk if it were for marketing reasons....Those brought in by Lenny?......No, in my opinion, strictly bought on their football ability, they may increase the profile of the club in the players respective countries but nothing more than that.....although Mulgrew remains a mystery, maybe Lenny is friendly with the boys Da and is doing him a favour......who knows.:celt_2:
