As euphoria went by, I now think O'Neill isn't the answer.

By appointing advisor or DOF it would clearly state what Lennon's position is and how much faith exactly board has in him. In my opinion, it's basically slap in the Lennon's face.

Not to mention how much we would have to pay for MON to sign, how much cash he would need to spend on transfers and huge wage bill is certainty. Apart from great managerial skills, I don't think we can afford the luxury of such manager at the moment. Even if he did resign before we appointed Lennon.

Lennon is manager and has earned it, I'd only take MON back as a director of football. You must remember whilst Martin is a great manager, he was backed hugely by the board in the transfer market, at a time when we could still outbid most EPL teams. So no guarentee we would see the success we did back then. Don't think he will go back to Celtic though.

Still would be great to have him back... Love the man.

So let me get this right. We are suggesting getting MON back. The same MON who although a brilliant manager, never goes anywhere without wee John and big Stevie. It's a package. An expensive one.
Then there is the fact that MON has NEVER but NEVER gone to any club and not spent. We were in debt to the tune of well over £20ml when the 3 amigos left. Even the reported reason he has left Villa is because of Transfer money.
It is a non starter if for no other reason, we are PRUDENT to say the least. Since the MON era, Peter takes greater control of the finances, whereas when MON was around ALL expenditure went through him.
Times have changed. You can't turn back the clock. Move on.

He didnt leave us in that much of a state, aye there was players out of contract etc but we still had the likes of lenny, thompson, sutton, agathe, balde, hartson, valgarean, mcgeady, varga, petrov,, now thats the players that were there when oneil unexpectidly had to cut short his stay with us, now a dont get the mess people talk about , when he supposedly ment to leave us in a mess, can someone please explain to me what mess he left, other than about the 9 or 10 players who won everything for us the previous 4 years or so????

Not oneils fault his missus became ill

Not his fault the new manager didnt use experienced players like balde, thompson and agathe who were miles better than the likes of telfer, camara, etc

As much as I would love a manager of MON quality, we have Lennon adn we as the support and the board must show faith in him. How disheartening would it be to be int eh job 2-3 month then get put back down a peg.

Now if MON wouldn't mind a stand back job, looking over Lennon then there is not one person I would rather have

    Just a wee thought.

All this stuff with the England players at the moment maybe they will bump Capello and gice MON the England Managers job.

DOF for me if St Martin comes back.....

If I had the choice between MON or Lennon I'd have took MON.

but as we have Lennon I'll give him my support.
