To be honest I have never seen him as a winger. More of a wide playmaker. I admit he is close to being given up on as a permainjured and fair enough he cant go on forever but I will never forget how good he was for a year and a half back 3 or 4 years ago when he was POTY. He looked like a player with everything. He must in reality be a better player now but the injuries mean his career is being ruined. Personally I wouldnt have played him tonight cause its obvious he isnt ready (think Lenny got this wrong) and played him in the next friendly instead. Maloney's close season is behind everyone else by a few weeks.

He found form at the end of last season breaking through and scoring a peach against motherwell.. As fans we want to see guys who are doing well get rewarded by retaining their place in the team.. That's one of the biggest criticism against mowbray.. he neveer allowed momentum to build.. Had Forrest been declared fit then who knows.. He can cross a ball better than we had tonight.. He can get past a player better than what we saw tonight (barring the assist from fortune).. Who knows , he might have progressed even further tonight..

Lets not go o.t.t on tonight though when the msot parts of the damage were done in Portugal and compelted with the away goal.

We have our priorities and we're back to the drawing board. Am not even too arsed about the Europa tbh. Yes it would be good to have a nice run but this season is about domestic business.

Lets not make any daft comments about Lenny and even some of the players who are still settling in here and remember, its only been 2 games

But Maloney has not looked ready in the last few games. I would have either player Fprest or maybe Brown wide right tonight.

I'm not going to sit here and slag the team... I didn't think we'd make to the CL after that 3-0 first leg. I have to hand it to the Bhoys, it was a GRACEFUL exit from the tourney. Could you imagine if we went down 3-0 again?? We were outclassed against Braga, and we were still able to get a win. Yes the team isn't where it should be. But we have a new manager and a totally different Celtic side.. This squad has not had the time to gel. One thing I am worried about now though, is Maloney. What's the deal with him? Who are we going to replace him with if he's seriously injured and Mcgeady is gone? What's the news on this? Anyway, we have far better chance of progressing in Europe in the Europa league. I'm just keeping the faith that we'll go on as far as we can in the Europa league and win the SPL.. There's plenty hope yet. People are talking like we just got our heads handed to us on a plate.. That isn't the case.

yes he may have done good in a few friendlys but we have about 3 or 4 players tonight who where pish in the pre season yet get a game, why not stick him in for a game like this we had nothing to lose, brown gets the arm band and he is pish......

the thing that * me off is when everybody can see a player is clearly nowhere near good enough but continues to be selected time after time until eventually some mediocre championship side takes them off our hands for next to nothing this has been going on for years !! we had at least 5 or 6 in our lineup tnite :31: our defence is actually worse at the moment compared to last year * unreal

Im not saying this isn't true, im happy to see talent coming through, and to progress them. but to say he is already better than McGeady is a silly comment to make. He's isn't better than any of the longer term pros (even the bad ones) until he goes and gets a run of games and proves it. couple of games at the tail end of a lost season and pre-season dont count. But im hoping to see more of him soon and hom to prove he can do it

Hooper, Juarez and Cha looked really, really good. Fortune did well off the bench. Brown, Maloney, Samaras, Ledley and Murphy were ok. Hooiveld and Mulgrew were poor. Loovens and Zaluska were awful. McCourt didn't have time.

How I think we did tonight and every game this season under lenny
    zaluska-he is really struggling
cha-looks decent but got caught out for the goal.should come good
loovens-really struggling the sooner we offload him the better
jos-looked solid enough looked a bit slow.but on the other hand we would expect our strikers to pull away from slower defenders
mulgrew-don't think I need to say much.decent spl back up
maloney-pish and gets bullied not good enough
brown-had a decent game but def not worth the 25k he is reportedly on
juarez-I will be amazed if he is still here next season.classy player
ledley-looked good on the ball.quite calm which we have been missing
sammy-the sooner we punt him the better
hooper-great start I am certain he will score loads
fortune-deserves another season.preferably on the right of a front 3
    murphy-jury still out
