Last nights result was always possible I think we should wait until the second leg before we make any judgements
Ten games into the SPl we will know if Lennie and the new signings are going to work
We really need a Center Half & a goalie & Left Back
An early goal next week would be good 2 games in between to sort out formation

    shambolic

This is the same problems we have had for the last 3 years, LB, CH,MD, Strikers so when are we going to correct them, I for one don't see any improvement in any, worse even because we have lost our last class player Boruc.

Players can't pass the ball even in short a distance, lack of leadership, backbone, and still sticking to zonal * defending? passing us to boredom back and sideways.

Fans are kidding themselves if they think we can win the league with these performances, nothing at all has changed for the better in the last 3 years and we are not jumping the gun or being negative, just genuine in our regards for the Club and the board who appoint and sign these people, we were saying players should have been signed long time ago to get used to each other, but sadly when you look at our defending it is * shambolic.

would you not be quite nervous if you were making your debut for your new club, in what is a big game, against decent opposition, playing in a defence that has never played together, behind a midfield that has never played together.

maybe our problem was this game is just too soon for this new team. 11 players that arent used to playing together at all. we relied on a pretty new keeper with a very new and unfamiliar defence to keep a clean sheet and a midfield full of strangers supporting an awful striker to score goals. this team, and mulgrew can only get better as they begin to understand each others game.

    Agreed mate :50:

I think we'll win the league. The only reason being that we will have little competition. However what we can't do is think it's won before we kick a ball.

As for Mulgrew. Utter pish, his crossing wasn't that good when he had the chance, his passing was atrocious and oh yeah, HE CANNOT DEFEND!

The signings of Mulgrew and Murphy confirmed to me that europe is out of the picture for us.

We were *, under prepared, too many changes and playing a team that although lack history did really shake the life out of the normal elite teams in Portugal…..I hope that mean’s it can only get better…<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Realism is that we are still a world famous team that have rich history, but we are no longer on the money trail, we cant afford the wages, or transfer fees and as a result we need to go season after season hoping to sign potential or land the next Larsson x2 and then only then will we be able to actually have a wee bit of fun in Europe…<o:p></o:p>

Yep. We need to build a team first before we can do anything in Europe. As mentioned in other posters, WGS and MON were knocked out early in the first season but I hope we can restore some pride next week.

Beat Rangers this season and get this team used to playing together, then we can talk about what we can do next year.

the way to make any progress in europe is to win the league, that way we are in the champions qualification path, skipping out the round we are in just now and missing the big teams from big leagues and getting the champions of weaker leagues.

domestic success is the priority, europe is a bonus.

Is Europa League really a level we think we can do well at? I'd have said Braga were the definition of a Europa League standard team.

I can't honestly see us doing anything in Europe at this stage. Even the Europa league.
Basic passing ability is average to poor compared to many Europa league teams from better leagues than ours. A crucial difference at crucial times as we saw last season.

    LOL:56:

Agree'd, the Europa league isn't worth playing in.

Great idea. Buy the minimum players needed to win the SPL 60% of the time , get kicked out of Europe at the earliest possible time to allow us to pay attention to the league. Let the huns pointlessly play in Europe. more the fool them.

The players haven't had any time to get used to how one another plays. We had Mulgrew, Cha, Ledley, and Juarez - all who didn't have very much time at all to get used to how one another plays. Albeit we looked like a side who couldn't string a needle through a hula-hoop, let alone make passes.

Weather we are good enough for the CL anymore or not isn't the point.

The point is we got our arses kicked by braga

We didn't get beat by the champions league. We got beat by a small portuguese club.
A club which we should be good enough for

True, but to their credit they still finished above Porto & Lisbon last season.

IMO it's a simply wrong conclusion to judge on a result influeted by a lot of things. Poor ref, * world cup ball, and main a bunch of players who barely know each other.

If Strachan could, Lennon will be able to do too with time.

My biggest concern is fans who wants new signings and expecting everything to work out right away. And then make a judge on our european potential after one match.

But obvious. We also need to be fair to our opponents and give them credit. I don't think it's fair to Celtics reputation to call many of our european opponents pub teams, when we isn't deliever and falling through the UEFA ranks.
