This sums up everything. The other side of city might be broke but if we do not get a new number 1 then we have MAJOR issues for the season as i am afraid zaluska will never be more than an average backup keeper. Boruc maybe had his faults last few years but you knew he could put points in the bag for us. His buddy never is.

im majorly disappointed in lukasz i though he was capable of becoming the new munber 1 outright even after the debacles at st.mirren and aberdeen last season where he didnt exactly cover himself in glory! but i feel the pre-season games and the pressure of taking Artur's jersey have shown him to be sub-standard and nothing more than a back-up!! gutted!!

How do you know Artur would have given us a performance when it was clear for all that he did not want to be here?

I've said from day 1 that Zaluska is not in the same class as Artur Boruc was and I don't believe he ever will be. He's a good keeper but he'll never be a great one. It genuinely shocked me that some people on here were quite happy for Artur to leave because Zaluska was 'just as good'. :97:

Lukasz Zaluska insists pressure isn't getting to him despite recent errors - Scotsman.com Sport

NO active Celtic player has made more of an impression in the nascent season than Lukasz Zaluska. The pity for the Pole is that he has been newsworthy wholly for the negative.
The concession of soft goals in the Champions League against Braga, and in the weekend's Emirates Cup matches against Lyon and Arsenal has made the goalkeeping position appear a real problem one for Celtic.

The 28-year-old's confidence seems fragile and easily breakable. No wonder, some will say, when his manager Neil Lennon has so shown so little confidence in him that he has been open and vocal about his need, and pursuit of, a keeper to "rival" him - the prime example David James. Not that Zaluska could possibly concur with that contention.

"This is Celtic," he said. "There is always pressure here. We need competition for every position and there is speculation all the time, but I am ready for everything. After having Artur Boruc here with me, I am not afraid of anything. Am I ready to be the number one at Celtic? I am ready 100 per cent."

The Irishman actually described Zaluska as his No1 at the weekend, but that is a position he holds merely by default after Boruc was sold under him. And Zaluska's defaulting on three goal-losing occasions in past week has illustrated how keenly the flogging to Fiorentina of Celtic's best keeper for three decades might be felt.

"He should have done better at that goal" has become a common refrain from Lennon about Zaluska in recent days.

However, Celtic centre-back Jos Hooiveld offered what might be regarded as qualified backing. "It's a big task for Lukasz to try to replace Artur but Lukasz is a great goalkeeper. I see him making great saves in training all the time and if he can translate that into the games he'll make a great replacement," Hooiveld said.

"We're all behind him. His confidence is still high and we try to help him with that too. For me it's not an issue at all."

I never said Zaluska was as good as Boruc but I did used to think Zaluska was good enough to be our number one. I thought we should get a third keeper as competition for Cervi. Now I'm not as confident in Zaluska and think we need quality between the sticks and it's not him. So I think we need to look for a new number one.

Won't come close to filling the big man's shoes. Would have rather kept him another season and lost him for zip.

We likely won't see another keeper of Boruc's quality at the club for a long time, but we can do better than this guy.

IF we beat Braga 3-0, IF, I would not put my money on Zaluska to win us the penalty shoot out.

I didn't like the way he lost the ball to his near post against arsenal. Granted it was unexpected but i thought his dive was poorly timed or had poor technique. However, credit where credit is due, he is more than capable of pulling off a great save. I hope this spell he is going through is just rustiness.

Can`t believe people are saying it was Zaluska` fault for the Bastos free-kick. Did you actually watch the game?! Unstoppable. Having said that Zaluska hasn`t looked as assured in any of the games i`ve seen him in. Actaully the last time I remember him having a good game was the semi-final of the league cup against dunddee united when he was in goal for them! I like the sound of Hildebrand or Pletikosa as both are a few tiers above Zaluska imo and we would be lucky to get either of them.

    how was it unstoppable?

Ok it was a cracking free-kick hit with great pace.but if u actually watched it then you would see tht it moved very little. And it went in the direction which Zaluska should of been covering.

For sum reason he started to move to the area which the wall was defending. At no point during the flight of the ball was it heading in that direction

a bit of an enigma like fortune and samaras zal had flashes of brilliance last season and watching him against arsenal he made some incredible saves before he made a blunder. think he is lacking consistancy with out a doubt he has the ability to fill the void left by artur jus needs to find his form

The power on the ball makes it unsaveable for Zaluska. In the right place he may have got a hand to it but it would not have been enough to save it!
