You know I was wondering what Lenny was meaning when he was saying "some of our players need to improve. Some need to be sold. The team really needs a real work oveR"

or something along those lines.

I thought he meant selling the * and bringing in class players to replace them with... I guess what he really meant was selling our good players, and more evenly distributing the talent around the squad.

Ah whatever, I'm just hoping its evil genius.

Although he was technically out best player, he really did have to go (well, only for such a fee).

Looked like he stagnated for us and at times you felt he could be doing better. Didn't really step up from "wonderkid" to "Indispensable to the club" if you forgive me for using Football Manager speak...

Listen good luck to him but 10 mill is great business and lets be honest he maybe have been one of our most skillfull BUT never really a game turner unlike say larsson or lubo or naka so great business

In Scottish footballing terms a magnificent talent. For Celtic fans a great entertainer and a joy to watch. Playing in comparitively poor teams, much (too much ?) was expected of him. It can be argued he failed to live up to promise and too often did`nt contribute the way we expected.This, in my opinion, does`nt detract from the fact he is the most gifted footballer at our club and will be sadly missed. Ten million? In todays market where perfectly ordinary players are sold on for multi millions i would argue he is worth every penny. I believe things may have worked out differently for him if the press had`nt latched on to his international status and,as usual, found it easy to write disparaging remarks/stories regarding an "unsettled" Celtic player. If you are going ,then good luck Aiden and thanks for all the joy you gave me while watching your superb ball skills.

 

It should be "Do svidanya" "i" is equal to short "ee". "Do" means till, "svidanya" is something close to meeting

Pretty gutted about this to be honest. Our best player, gone! Were going to need to replace him with someone just as good if not better.

Excellent post man, agree totally with everything you've written.

The point you've made about ordinary players being sold on for multi millions is very true indeed. IMO Aiden has been an exceptional talent for us (Without him for the last 5 seasons I dread to think of how we could have struggled) Of course the end product of delivering dangerous crosses is where his game needs to improve, maybe thats why I did feel it was time to move on to a "bigger stage" to further his developemt in to the "Ronaldoesq" type player his skills could allow him to become.

However I do feel sad that because of the massive transfer fee we can't afford to refuse Spartak's offer, and Aiden has been somewhat forced to move to a Country/League where he doesn't really want to move to.
The EPL was his obvious choice, but i'm sure a move to Spain, Italy, Germany or even France would have been more appealing to him.
Spartak are currently a mid table in the Russian league , so yet again it comes down to Money, Money, Money. Can anybody honestly say this move will improve Aiden as aplayer, yes his bank balance will swell but if we'd won the league last year would we be so willing to sell?

Sad to see our best player leave, hopefully he can eventually win his fully deserved move to the EPL in the near future. If Garry O'Connor can get move from Moscow to Birimgham city, the Aiden should have no bother at all as he's ten times the player.......
