I dont really know what to make of him tbh. Never really liked him that much but he is ok on his day however he does make a few mistakes. Should have saved Muller's first easily at the WC but what keeper doesnt make a few? ITs the age that puts me off a bit. Hes 39 and would probably want a decent amount in wages/.

 

Zulaska had a very decent last season and would make him our number one cervi has the potential to be a very good number 2 so think its pretty pointless making james one of our highest paid players when hes hitting 40 and makes mistakes to often

 

we sign him? that proves to me zaluska wont be no1. a waste of a wage getting james.

 

Peter Shilton was playing at Italia '90 at the age of 40 and was regarded as the best keeper in the world at the time. James is very fit physically, and very experienced. As for his wages, he wouldn't be on much more than Boruc was, and there's the fact that they approached us, which offers us more leeway in negotiations.

Landing James on a one or two year deal would be a fantastic signing.

 

What is Zalaluska going to make of all this? Lennon has said hes looking for a keeper to fill Boruc's shoes and that James is "one that can". Thats as good as saying he doesn't believe Zalaluska can be Celtics No 1 goalie. He should choose his words a bit more carefully because this can't be doing anything for Zalaluska's confidence. Every game Zalaluska has played in the first team he has been very good, I would be happy to see him as Celtics No1 goalie.

Although I can understand that maybe James would would be a good leader and could have a influence on how the defence plays as a whole. I think Lennons maybe looking for a very experienced player in the defence/goalkeeping area, he wanted Sol Campbell but that looks unlikely. Now James is the alternative.

 

As Lennon said, we could be doing with the experience for the competitions we're in. As good a replacement for boruc as we could have hoped for, especially as theres no fee involved

 

He never said anything about who is going to be number 1 .. But Boruc needs replaced. One goalkeeper goes, we have to bring another one in. Zaluska and Cervi as 1 and 2 just doesn't sound good enough.

 

No, if James is signed, he will go straight into the first team infront of Zalaluska. I agree we need another goalkeeper, but I was expecting one to be brought in as back-up for Zalaluska. James is going to want around £30,000 grand a week, why pay that when we already have a excellent goalkeeper? That sort of wages should be spent on a quality experienced defender, which we dont have.

If this happens Zalaluska will probably be wondering what the * he has to do get a game because he has been excellent when he has played.

 

I can't help thinking why did we get rid of the legend that is Artur Boruc if we're gonna replace him with someone older and near enough the same wage?

 

james makes shocking mastakes at times, I know every keeper does but james is one of the worsts, just think when we play rangers and james does something crazy.

We have the chance to buy another keeper as a replacement for Boruc (which you have agreed we need) .. So isn't it an added bonus he's a great keeper and better than Zaluska? Hes a good keeper, dont get me wrong but if we get the chance to bring in a better keeper for number one, whats wrong with that? It's football and Zaluska will fight for his place again.

James earned the nickname Calamity over 10 years ago, since then he has worked incredibly hard to improve himself and his concentration and I think he is just unlucky that name stuck. Also with being England's number 1 the spotlight was always on him so any mistake was multiplied tenfold. I think he would be outstanding here and I hope he signs soon.

 

Do you honestly think James will come to Celtic to sit on the bench? Not a * chance. If he signs the contract it will be made clear that he will be No1 or he wont come anywhere near Parkhead.

 

Is he? He's well known for the mistakes he makes and they always happen in big games. I've laughed at his *-ups for England too many times to remember. Get ready for total howlers in the champions league qualifiers and games against the huns. He's done it all his career, hes not going to change at the age of 39.

name me a player thats done well for england, i really hope he comes up as he's better than what we have. makes me laugh all the people on here that only notice players for there mistakes. celtic will never have a perfect player in a long time.
