TalkCeltic Team of the Decade - Strikers

Over the next 2 weeks we will be running a series of threads with polls attached in order to find out who the TalkCeltic community's 'Team of the Decade' is. Each poll will be stickied and will stay up for a week so that members can have a good discussion of all the players that have played for Celtic in the past decade and can take their time to have a good think before voting if they want to. Or else you can just vote for your favourites! :bbpd: It will also give some of our less regular users a chance to cast their vote and participate.

The team will be picked in a 3-5-2 formation(I chose that formation because it leaves out the problematic left-back position and it was a formation we had a lot of success with in the past decade) and the polls will be as follows:

Week 1 - Goalkeepers
Week 2 - Centre-Backs
Week 3 - Wing Backs
Week 4 - Central Midfielders/Playmakers
Week 5 - Strikers
Week 6 - Manager

At the end of the 6 polls we should have ourselves an official TalkCeltic Team of the Decade and the results will be posted up for members to see.


This week's poll is to decide who will fill the 2 striker positions. Celtic have had quite a few quality strikers over the past decade with one particularly 'magnificent' candidate, no prizes for guessing who that is!

The poll has been set-up so that you can vote for more than one player, this will enable members to vote for the 2 players they want to fill the striker positions.

Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton.

The only question here, really, is "Sutton or Hartson?"

 

I think JVoH ran Hartson close to be fair, but yeah in order it'd be Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, JVoH.

The decade being voted on is 2000-2009, Keane only arrived in 2010 so he wasn't included. We really should have done these polls earlier in the year.

The guy on that list that always annoys me is Mark Viduka. I think he could have been thought of just as highly as the likes of Sutton and Hartson if he had stayed at Celtic. Unfortunately he just viewed us as a stepping stone and * off down to England at the first available opportunity.

I voted for Henrik and John Hartson. But if it were for the best partnership then it would be Sutton and Henrik. But imo Hartson was the better striker out of himself and Sutton

Larsson & Hartson to be honest I tossed a coin between Sutton and Hartson there, I couldn't make my mind up. Although if the coin had landed on its edge I was going to pick a wild card other - Jeremie Aliadiere or Dion Dublin

 

No-brainer for me - Henke' and Sutton, just a perfect partnership.

 

Larsson + Sutton for me but it was a hard decision between Sutton and Hartson to partner Henrik.

 

It's a no brainer for me Henrik and Hartson.

For me its Hartson

 

As it was for most I am sure the first pick was easy in Larsson but boy was it hard to seperate Sutton and Hartson. In the end I just gave the nod to Sutton.

After Henrik I went for Sutty it was a really hard choice between him and BBJ though.
