  14. Mexico City .- The Mexican defender Efrain Juarez, who participated with the national team at the recent World Cup, was sold to Scottish club Celtic, local media said on Monday.
Juarez, 22, plays for Mexican club Pumas de la Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) where he won the local tournament title Clausura 2009.
In 2005 he was part of the national team that won the World Under-17 which took place in Peru.
"The reality is that there is a strong possibility that he can go to participate in Europe, we are now very close to another college player joins Europe," said Mario Trejo, manager of Pumas, quoted in the newspaper Excelsior.
To date or not Celtic Pumas have made the official announcement of the transfer.
"Efrain Juarez will exceed 3 million. Celtic ties it, the defense would travel to Scotland later in the day to close the deal," said sports daily Record.
To make the pass, Juarez would be the second Pumas player going to Europe after the World Cup after last week midfielder Pablo Barrera was acquired by West Ham in England
